scuba_steve Personally, I would go with the 2014, but that's probably because there isn't much that I find compelling about the 10A. The hood is cool, but I can get an AEV hood if I want to do so later, which I probably won't. Bumpers? I would likely replace them anyway.

If you like the features, then your mileage may vary, but I'd rather have another year newer with minor refinements and more kinks worked out...and as an added small benefit, it will be worth marginally more later on when it is time to sell.

Of course, I feel differently when there is a major change to the engine, tranny, or the overall model. I bought one of the last YJs available rather than buying one of the first TJs...and I held off on replacing my TJ for an extra year so I wouldn't be getting the first year of the new Pentastar and auto tranny...and am glad that I did.

I love the red seats on the 10 year model though. Thanks
Honestly, a 8 speed tranny is the same as last years model with an additional band in it to add 2 gears. What would be cool to see is a CVT tranny that can produce enough torque in a Jeep.

Nope, sure don't. Neither of those would fare well in the Florida sun/rain. I rarely keep the doors on or top up. The way Wranglers were intended to be driven.

Comments like this are funny. It is 2013 after all. Driving with a 35"+ tire and a raised tire carrier in your rear window. A rear view camera makes sense.

You probably don't like leather seats and electric windows either?
Believe me I know where your coming from. I consider myself a traditionalist when it comes to my old cars. (a few of my 30's era Fords have nothing newer than 1953 on them)

However if your in the market for a 2013/14 model year vehicle why get 1960's era amenities?

Progress since 1941, interrupted by "tradition".

And OP. I am in the same boat as you. Although I did order a 10A instead of coming across one at a dealer. I waited late in the year to see if the '14s would come with something like a rear view camera or better stereo. Other than that there was no tipping point for me. So in your case. I would go 10A all the way.

2014 Jeep Wrangler Product update

I work for a jeep dealer, here are the changes:

Updated 6.5inch 430 Nav screen

Updated EVIC screen ( fuel economy, digital speed, etc ) similar to other chyrsler products.

Clear lens blinker lights on front grille

Sorry/Happy to say, no powertrain changes. No 8-speed. Some new colors, special editions through out the year

Correction! Latest from Pat:
Due to the factory being at 100% capacity 13 MY were shut of early and can no longer be ordered 14 MY ordering is "scheduled" to open June 5th. 14 MY production has a start date of July 22nd if I recall correctly.

For some reason everybody is being stingy with 14 information and won't release anything.

May will be the last month for dealers to order 2013Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited for stock/dealer inventory. You can place a sold order thru the first week of June.

2014 Wrangler is a carry over. Nothing new other than some colors and a few special editions.

I placed an order for a 2013 JKUR last Friday (5/17) configured as follows:
Options:
Max Tow
4.1 Ratio
Connectivity Group
Supplemental Airbags

Dealer says 5-6 weeks before it's on the lot, which puts me somewhere around the very end of June. At this point, should I just be patient and wait for the 14's?

The only thing I'm not 100% sold on is the color. I ordered Brilliant White because Dune and Commando just seemed *ever so slightly* off when I saw them in person. After some casual negotiation on paper, the dealer has flexed to about 1.5% below invoice. I live in Southern CA, if it's relevant.

the white is awesome looking with the black hard top. The dune and commando green aren't "really" official colors for the 10A, although I posted in another thread that you could "build" one on the jeep.com site. The official colors for the 10A are Anvil, Billet, Black and White.

the Grouch Considering that over the last three years Jeep has updated the interior, engine and transmission and how well the Wrangler is selling I don't see a lot of incentive for big changes. Upgraded navigation/audio maybe. The rest, I don't see it. Diesel was supposed to be dependent on how well the GC sold.

MattK I would get the 10A if you don't plan on doing much to it as you're paying extra for the additional items the the 10A comes with. Otherwise get a regular 13 or wait for a 14.

chisox711 I would bet the radio will have an upgrade available. Both the 730 and 430 seem dated.

Think long term on the 10A. The big changes will be on the next refresh.

BManz Wait for the eleven-speed.

Cdwright 10A is a great jeep. You will not be disappointed.

Caveman1965 I bought a 10A. I took delivery about 6 weeks ago. No regrets what so ever! I don't expect anything ground breaking in Jeep design until the major re-design which should be 2016......possibly 2015. I say this because the Wrangler model life cycle is about 10 years. And, the current model is very popular.

I love my Jeep! Pull the trigger and order that 10A. You'll be glad you did.
05-07-2013 05:53 AM
Aeschylus If you spend too much time worrying about what will happen tomorrow, you will miss the present.

Unless there was concrete evidence about what was going to come out with the 2014s, I would order now, especially if you were seriously considering a 10A. The worst case scenario is that the 2014 is a radical redesign (not likely) and you have to decide whether or not to trade in a few-month-old Jeep for the new one; at the worst, it costs you a few thousand dollars. If you were not set on the 10A or do not feel compelled to order now, then wait - only you can decide that part.

Also, as someone else mentioned, I would not necessarily want to be an early adopter of a radical redesign. Give it 6 - 12 months and let everyone else shake out the issues with a complete redesign.
05-06-2013 08:22 PM
traitor08 I don't see these options as being upgrades.
05-06-2013 08:22 PM
roxbury29 Order what you want !!!

funny how Jeep consitanly makes changes every year, which is a good thing.
back late in 2010 I did the same thing. looked for a 2010 could not find what I wanted and ordered a 2011 the way I wanted.

then in they made changes in 2012, and now in 2013, I am sure the 2014's will also be awesome.

I was looking at a 10th anniversary Rubicon, on Friday. My local dealer was ready to write me a check for my wrangler, If I placed an order for a new one. I opt'd to wait another year. I have my 11 the way I want it and still only about 20K miles on her....

the BEST thing is with a Wrangler(JEEP) you cannot loose. with the resale value and how you can make it your own..

PS. I love the new 10A bumpers, I want'em
