I still have the stock 7.5" wide rims, think i'll need spacers for 11" wide tires? pretty sure there's 6.5" backspacing now.

Don't know what differences there are (beside the obvious that is) between a jk and a jku. I would think the same setup would work for you.
Wheels: Black Rock 16x8 D type Series 942
Tires: Goodyear Duratrac 285/75R16
paid $1324 out the door at Discount Tire (they did do some price matching from sites I found online (tirerack.com and jeep4x4center.com)

With regards to the new thread I started, it looks like yours is the look that I was maybe trying to explain. Less rim more tire? I think I need to go have a drink because my head hurts, But looks great

BigFran can you help me with make and models of tires/rims that you bought through discount. Great deal.

Joe
Sure, The tires are Goodyear 33x12.50x15 Duratrac's and the wheels are 15x8 Level 8 Trackers.

Discount Tire sells a lot of this combo they will know what ones you want for a JK.

dadrunamok 305/70-16 Duratracs for me. My 2-door is lifted now, but I ran them without the lift for about a month with no problems. I also replaced my wheels to a set with 4.5" backspacing. I never wheeled it that way, but I have a fondness for making u-turns in tight places and I was able to go stop-to-stop without rubbing.

Discount Tire takes the lifetime warranty as "as long as there is tread" I had a tire that was bald in my eyes at 73k miles (60k mile tire) and i got a nail in the side wall--something they couldn't fix. So they gave me a brand new tire!

Nice, that's a good deal! My friend has them on his 2010 JKU....they are a little louder than the Duratracs and MT/R's, but for that price you can't go wrong with 18"/35"!!!
