Good Lord, this forum is awesome. I thought I knew a lot about cars (although apparently Chrysler thinks I'm stupid enough to blow that smoke up my arse) but you good folks are making me humble with the great insight. TODAY is the big day that I go to pick the car up. If the seat is not fixed, I'm going to ask for the Regional Manager and escalate. I'll also take some pics and post them.
Mastercraft seats, hmmmm.......

I had sold cars 3 years Hyundais and 1 year Chrysler Dodge Jeep and I learned that when you buy a used car most of the time you inherit sombody elses problem. My Wrangler is my first ever Brand New vehicle I've ever bought. I've gone thru over a dozen used cars and the stories I can tell you guys about problems that were there since I bought them.
Anyway, obviously the seat is not right. I find that when I'm in a situation similar to this it comes down to asking the service people "would you drive this car with this problem?" If the seat tilts to the side is this a vehicle that you would get behind the wheel and drive? In the interest of good, nay, mediocre customer service can you turn this wonderful vehicle that I love like a child into something that you, mister service advisor, would be proud to drive down the street, with the doors off, and not fall out of? Please, Pretty Please, with sugar on top, fix the F***ing car.

Well,my '06 TJ 1,419 miles had a case of the shimmies for about a month, finally took it to be serviced on Wednesday and it was the rotor brake that was bad or they "replaced out round rotors".
The steering wheel would shimmy like it was having a seizure, when applying brakes at 40 mph or more.
Scary as hell if you ask me...it was still under warranty so they were very nice in fixing the problem.

I found this on another site and i think its worth reading. Your not the only one who is having these problems. I agree with everyone else, dont stop fighting!!!!! This sounds like a bad issue and you should resolve it asap. Good luck man.... below is the link....

Siggie, if it makes you feel any better..I have an 04 TJ with a 4 inch lift and that noise coming from the tranny/throwout bearing is actually the reverse idler inside the transmission and it is supposed to do that. The NV3550 is by nature a somewhat noisy tranny.
As for the shimmy the chrysler steering damper is a poor design but should not cause the shimmy. My seats are also level. I would mention something about the lemon law to the dealership if that applies in your state. Also Try a different dealership with the seat issue. You may or may not get a different answer. If not, its just a good reason to go to some mastercraft seats! Well good luck with your battle.

I'm only going to say it one more time. Tell them you want to speak to the regional person. That person will straighten it out for you.
I thought maybe jeeptales would come in and give you advice, but he's in the food thread right now. PM him and ask him about it.

I've worked in fiber optics and aircraft engines for 23 years and I have never been asked to lie to a customer. And would tell them to go to hell if they did. It's a personal choice and I am in awe as to how tough it must be working at a car dealership.
If this guy is knowingly lying, boy is it sad. I think -- I'd like to think he's passing on Chysler's information and is boxed in after having stated it. To his credit, he didn't change the story today. I almost asked for the Chrysler tech support bozo who told him that.
By the way, you check your life insurance yet?

Here Siggie, I found a picture you can give to your "Service" Manager:
|12-21-2006 10:10 PM|
according to your dealer they are tilted towards the door so when you remove the doors in the summer you can fall out with out any difficulties when going 50 mph ...
I gotta tell you my seat is perfectly aligned to the floor so your dealer is not telling the truth here trying to save $$$.

I have to admit to being a little skeptical about the service manager.....doesn't he know enough about the product he sells or have enough common sense to realize this whole tilted seat/safety issue sounds too fishy?
Siggie, you deserve a straight story.....good luck

I just spoke to the service manager. He sure did do me a big favor -- he covered another warranty concern and he was really cool about it. The other thing is that he said that the information about the seats CAME FROMN CHRYSLER'S TECH SUPPORT person.
To be fair to the dealership, and I hope that anyone who's read this string sees this, the dealership isn't making that claim. It's Chrysler. Chrysler TECH support!
So, all you TJers driving with level seats better pay up your life insurance!
To be clear -- the beef I now have is with Chysler. This dealership is just doing their job.
|12-21-2006 06:01 PM|
This is exactly what you should do. That is what they are there for. Trust me. Tell 'em, jeeptales!!!
|12-21-2006 05:08 PM|
|JeepGuyLJ||What they are telling you is BS tell them that you contacted chrysler and they said the seat should NOT be that way. I have 05 and and my seat is straight yeah like i said its BS take it back and tell them that they have to fix it or you will take them to court.|
