|Dan216||Ahh I decided to buy another kit. Success. I'll have pics uploaded later.|

|viperx6x9x||also with that exterior stripe. you can use the bottom of the door to keep a level line. And if you look at the back, use the bottom of the tailgate for a level line. I wrapped the stripe around the back as well. Looks to be level with the bottom of the doors so you get one uniform stripe going around. Doesn't cover up as far as corner guards would but it's something.|

|GoldenSahara00||Thanks. Glad it helped you out!|

This thread is perfect, I have the exact same color TJ and was debating how the black interior would look, and apparently, it looks great!
Subbing for future use

Thanks, i'm not crawling rocks with this thing. So the bedliner should be good enough to protect from brush and tree limbs and what not. Plus it covered up some gouges that were already there.
Now i just gotta re paint the flares with some better stuff to get em black again.
|06-04-2013 03:24 PM|
|GoldenSahara00||Looks really good man.|
|06-04-2013 01:00 PM|
|viperx6x9x||Hope the pic shows up okay. But i did the rocker stripes in bedliner too. Turned out pretty good. Took forever to tape everything off good though. I also just continued up and over the door sills too for protection when the dogs jump in/out.|

So i found another thread about it. Wish i had read before i dissasembled and broke mine.
Anyway, thanks to Jerry for this tidbit. But apparently there is a little ball type mechanism that rolls out to lock the belt when it is not perfectly level. It is not inertia based like some belts.
Simply grab the belt just above the reel assembly, let it hang and it will level itself out like a pendulum. Shake it up and down gently a few times and it will start falling. Once it gets out far enough you can step on the belt to prevent it going back in. then bolt it in real quick.
Of coure if you tape the belt up real good before you take it out in the first place you won't have to worry about any of this.

|viperx6x9x||so working on reassembly, and found my rear belts retracted up on me. Anybody know how to make them slack out some line so i don't break another one?|

It's back in the garage now. I may get pics tomorrow in better light. I did the rocker panel striping too but it's black liner on a black jeep so it may not show too well in the pics.
The most fun part of all this was getting it back in the garage. Manual jeep, no seats, and you can't touch the floor cuz the liner is still wet. To make things more fun the driveway is at an incline, and I can't ask my pregnant wife to come help push. So a hold my beer and watch this moment ensues. I basically used the rollcage as a brace for my back, and something to hang onto monkey bar style. Some acrobatic balance, and a little feathering of the clutch and I was able to drive it in.
|06-01-2013 08:01 AM|
|GoldenSahara00||Yeah the gun has a hole so air can get into the container so it doesn't form a vacuum an it lets the liner out. Down side is the leaks. Yeah throw some pics up when it's drying.|

Well got a little bit splotchy in a few spots. and a few overspray areas but overall looks pretty good. Going to do my rocker panel stripes and front bumper today.
Just some observations I had though. Do Not let it tip upside down. The gun doesn't seal perfect and some will drip out and make big splotches. However, wear some mechanix gloves that you dont mind getting a bit messy, and if your quick enough you can spread those big puddles around and then spray a quick coat over them they wont be very noticeable.

|viperx6x9x||no biggy, wife isn't gonna be happy we have to order a new seatbelt. But looks like i don't have much choice in the mater.|
|05-31-2013 03:09 PM|
|GoldenSahara00||Looks good. Sorry I can't help you more with the seatbelt.|
|05-31-2013 03:08 PM|
|viperx6x9x||Well damn the torpedoes (seat belt in this case) full speed ahead. It's already broke so I'll figure it out later. Got it all sanded, taped, and ready to go. Just waiting on my buddy to bring a compressor part i need. Since I obviously can't drive this thing to go get my own parts. I owe him a 6 pack or something after this project.|

|viperx6x9x||Seatbelt Solutions 9706P-1000 - Front Push Button 3 Point Retractable Belts for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec Looks like that price includes both belts. That's actually not too bad in that case. I had to have the dealer put a new passenger belt in my chevy once because the dog chewed through it, $350 for just the one installed. So $170 for both don't seem that bad to me|
|05-29-2013 01:14 PM|
|viperx6x9x||Well the cap is plastic and the ears that the screws go through are cracked. I don't wanna risk it coming apart. My wife likes to ride with me, and is pregnant now. The last thing I need is something happening to them because I put something together wrong. I'm just gonna hope I can find one parted out or just order one.|
|05-29-2013 12:58 PM|
|GoldenSahara00||Look for someone parting out a TJ on the forum, or just find a way to fix it.|
|05-29-2013 12:44 PM|
Looks like i will just have to bit the bullet on this one and order a replacement belt. Fortunately quadratec has them at least, and in different colors. Does $170 sound too high, anybody know of other places to look for them?
I guess I will try calling the dealer too but they are usually higher.
|05-29-2013 12:21 PM|
|viperx6x9x||Yeah i shouldn't have, the white cap very clearly said "do not remove" but here I go thinking I can fix it so I took it off. Can't win for losing, Try to fix one problem and make another one.|
|05-29-2013 11:40 AM|
|GoldenSahara00||I honestly couldn't tell ya, I never took mine apart|
|05-29-2013 11:37 AM|
Well another issue I just noticed is the seat belts are attached to the cage. So i can't take it out.
But I created another problem for myself. I decided to take the passenger belt loose so I could tie it up out of the way and let it wind up a little by mistake. In trying to get it to release so I could reel some belt out, i thought it would be a good idea to take that white cap off to try and get it to disconnect slightly.
So the spring went flying out and now i can't figure out how to get it would up right to reinstall it. I got it back in but don't know how to get it would tight again. Any ideas how? Or should I just take it to the dealer and have another belt put in when I am done with all this? I think i cracked some plastic pieces and I don't want that belt to be unsafe.

|GoldenSahara00||Yes by a few of the bolts on the windshield pillar. The tubes are part. You can drive, just don't wreck... lol. The windshield will stay in place unless the bolts are rusted off, but the windshield will fold very easily if you would roll.|
|05-29-2013 10:49 AM|
Does anybody know if the windshield is still supported if you pull the roll cage out? It looks like the front tubes form part of the support structure to me.
I need to pull it so I can continue with prep, but I still need to drive it to work a few more days before I can spray. Hopefully friday. So just wanted to know if it's still safe to drive, or should I just wait till friday to pull the cage.
|05-16-2013 09:45 PM|
|viperx6x9x||Yeah you are probably right on spraying too close. Just trying to come up with a solution for the smaller holes myself. Still got time though, plenty prep work left to do.|
|05-16-2013 09:37 PM|
|GoldenSahara00||The liner will eat through latex gloves if I remember correctly. Might want to get something a little more beefy I shot my liner from 1-2 feet away to get a rougher coating and a nice coverage, I don't know how it will come out if you spray real close. Just a thought.|
|05-16-2013 09:34 PM|
|viperx6x9x||I'm actually planning on wearing some of those latex gloves and blocking the holes with my pinky finger as i spray over. Or maybe just holding the ear plug over the hole and pulling it away as soon as i spray. Should keep the stuff out of the threads while getting good coverage.|
|05-16-2013 09:34 PM|
|GoldenSahara00||I used golf tees to plug the small holes. You could also just wad some tape up. I let the raptor liner cure for around 2 full days in 70+ warm weather. I then put the seats and stuff back in and drove it the next day. I keep the carpets in the front so it was easier on the liner. I removed the tape from any lines after like 30 mins but I think it may have been better after like 10 or so. I took the bottle off the gun and closed it, and emptied the gun out between coats. You can run some paint thinner through it from an empty tube if you want, just wash it good after.|
|05-16-2013 09:26 PM|
|michiganhunter||Your jeep looks awsome, i just finished sanding my tub tonigght and i took some acetone to kinda wipe evrything down.. i am soooo worried about puttingbthe liner in, lol hope ig turns out like yours, i have a few ?'s if ya dont mind........What did you out in the smaller holes for like the cosole and wiring harness plastic pin holes? I know about the ear plugs in the larger holes, also how long did you wait before removing everything from the holes and remove the tape?? Also between coats how long did uou wait, and what did you do aboutbthe gun while you was waiting between coats?|
