st1264 Many people seem to blame the antenna for their FM radio reception when many have put little stubby antennas and have had the same reception...

I think the biggest factor is your location, terrain and distance from the signals. Also, that head unit is horrible... if you had an aftermarket unit I bet you'll get better reception (if your location, terrain and distance from the signals is acceptable).

I took off my large factory antenna and put on a stubby, my multipath reception problems diminished. If the OP is in a major city with buildings, multipath may be the issue. Stubby's been on for a couple months and it's still there (knock on wood). It's actually not that visible, black on black.

FM reception problems are really "trial and error". There are so many factors involved. Not all tuners are the same... invest in a Pioneer HU with "Supertuner" and you may get better reception.

Just read this^... sorry, I don't think anything will help you. It's your location. I doubt Sirius will work for you as well. I bet once you drive out of the 'forest' area you get better reception

JKPaul I've gone both routes, cut stock one down and AntennaX. Either worked but I mainly use Sat, CD or my iPod. Yur choice!

Yeah.... satellite radio doesn't work so well when you're driving under real trees. I can testify that it breaks up something awful in the redwoods here on the CA north coast! Useless!

Up Hill Bill Here's a couple of threads on shorty antennas:

Up Hill Bill That's the stock antenna. Reception should be OK, unless you're in the boonies.....

A lot of folks, myself included, cut them off shorter (and re-solder the ball on) so they won't catch branches and flop around, maybe breaking a windshield. Or you can replace it with an assortment of inexpensive shortys.

Non of those options will improve reception, though.

Antenna on '12 Wrangler Sport

I bought my Jeep with about 5,000 miles on it. So I'm not sure if it has the stock antenna or an aftermarket one. But it seems kind of chincy... Radio signal isn't the best. Anyone else feel the same way? Any advice on a replacement? Thanks!
