I also got the aev carrier. What a wonderful thing ! Got my firestick mounted on it. Will put a d2 back up light soon. Sick of backing up blind in the trails.

I only got a superwinch 8500 but so far so good ! Wasn't strong enough to pull a full size pick up the other day tho so somewhere in the future a stronger one will take is place and will keep that one for a hitch winch. I got "#£%&" last winter cause winch was at the front. I learn something tho: if you turn around in a trail full of snow, back up instead of forward :-P

fenxx Myself...well getting it done its way over my mechanical skills. And after owning my moab for almost 2 years all what the dealer can do for me is honour the warranty. I don't think arb lockers are anywhere in Chrysler book lol way to good for them.

Doing it yourself, or dealer option?

Just adding the locker or replacing the axle?

Day Dreamer Still in love with no regrets. Mine has always done more than what I expected it to. Even if you had the rubicon there would be something else you would want. It's just the way us humans are. Throw some Dana 60's on there and mod her to death, then call it a day.

AverageJK I've been loving my Moab. Looking back, I do kinda wish I bought a Rubicon though. Oh well, I have a rear locker and plan on replacing the front axle at some point anyway.

This is the only thing I don't like too. Haven't missed the locker yet, and been though some heavy duty wheeling. But may look into that option too.

Mdmrlm Just got in my Hotheads headliner. Will be painting the inside black this weekend and if the paints dry, installing them. Next item, probably a few extra skids, new fogs, backup lights.

Mikel01 Just a reminder that we will need to adjust the carrier after a few hundred miles three-quarter inch wrench is all you need

Texanrojo Awesome guys, thanks for the help!

Mdmrlm Forgot to mention, the AEV CHMSL kit does not fit stock wheels. I had to make my own bracket from a piece of 1 1/2 flat aluminum flat stock forum Home Depot. Used the AEV LED. Works perfectly.

Mdmrlm Just finished installing my carrier today. I pulled the bumper off. Pretty easy install overall. That said, since I was using the original rims with my 315/70 duratrac's, neither of the two tire carrier bolts was long enough. Had to find a 1/2-20 6" grade 8 bolt locally. The kit comes with a 4" as it's longest. In reality I should have picked up one with threads covering the entire bolt as 6" was about 1/2 too long.

Mikel01 Same here a few hours. Had to loosen the bumper to shim and install. AEV was very helpfull.

I did it recently, took a few hours and the instructions are good, great product but very expensive.
You don't need a whole new bumper you just specify when ordering that you have the moab bumper and you get a new/different right corner piece.

07-24-2014 04:52 PM
Day Dreamer No there's a specific part for the cod and Moab editions. Different bumper for just the hi lift??

85CJ I'm definitely leaning towards the AEV hood for many reasons, but like the look of the X hood too including its windshield bumpers and footman loop. I have found the X hood to be slightly cheaper, but not significant enough to be a deciding factor. Thanks for the input!
07-23-2014 06:10 AM
cornfedksboy I believe the AEV is significantly cheaper as well. Either will look good!
07-23-2014 05:39 AM
Mikel01 The AEV hood is fully functional. Under hood temp is much cooler and no more highway hood flutter. Perfect fit too. I had Moab decals made as the Oem are Too long.

Need some fellow MOAB feedback on hood replacement

I am looking to change my hood and am stuck deciding between the AEV heat reduction hood and the Rubicon X or 10A hood. I will get MOAB decals made regardless of hood.

I like the look of the X hood, but the AEV retains the original lines for our edition.

Any thoughts? Anybody put the X on their MOAB, pics?

Mikel01 The Moab is a great platform to build on. It's cool that everybody has their own view.
