mattmason well at least the weather is holding out to be nice today. got out and got some work done but now. I just really need to focus on parts. I know there are plenty of pick and pull places in the local area but I am thinking getting all new parts would be a better way to go about it.

mattmason Yea I have looked into local jeep groups but there seem to be nothing serious in my area. Lakeville is more of an area where they kind of seem to keep to themselves as I have yet to see any regular groups of people gathering with jeeps I think the closest I have seen was in taunton two years ago and it was a bunch of women and they only wanted women jeepers. then the next best group was out in Westport but I cant make it that far with my jeep not running so I am going to have to wait. I already am a member of military jeepers but being on active duty away from an Army base limits that too.

bmpage84 Cool. You should really consider joining a club. My club has Tech days all the time where members get together and take on Jeep projects for each other. I just did a motor swap with some of the guys on a members XJ a few weeks ago. Nice part is, there's guys that own a variety of Jeeps so they know the insides and out of CJ's, YJ's, TJ's, JK's, XJ's, ZJ's, WJ's, and a whole variety of built buggies. Just the tech info alone you can get from the forum is great. Everyone helps each other so you can gain a lot of knowledge for working on your own projects. Plus the benefit of Suds, Slop, and being around really cool Jeeps! LOL

mattmason Still as always if yall ever want to swing by on the weekends just throwing it out I have some tools and plenty of parking. still gotta figure out getting the grill going, but not a biggie.
04-11-2014 02:42 AM
mattmason yea I kinda am too. but I figure its more out of the army making me too stuborn to just give up.
04-10-2014 09:13 AM
bmpage84 Glad to see you stuck with it!
04-10-2014 08:49 AM
mattmason honestly i really want to get it back up and running so i can once again hit the trails but being military time is not something i have a lot of time for and parts are the obvious expence that affordability can be an issue so pick and pull and referbish may be the best way to go at this point
04-10-2014 08:47 AM
mattmason actually takeing it in another direction of restoration. i am stripping it down right now to start my refit but yea it was a disator waiting to happen as the wireharness was bad then the other issues of the leaks that occured so had to fix those and now its engine issues and gaskets, but cant let it die. this weekend im going to be out in the yard fucking with it to see what i need then pulling out as much as possible.
10-08-2013 06:36 AM
uncle griz how much for the jeep before you strip it?
09-29-2013 10:06 PM
mattmason Well it crapped out again, this time it is just not worth saving. if anyone needs parts hit me up.

bmpage84 The Great American Jeep Rally http://www.jeeprally.org[/COLOR]/]at Great American Jeep Rally is this Saturday (14th) down in Ellington, CT. Had a great time last year!

uncle griz I've been following this thread also and wonder what it was! Glad it's back up and fixed

bostiguy You're going to have to toughin' the skin up some I guess . Yesterday was perfect blue skies and upper 70's.
Today at 9:30 it's already mid 70's.
Take off the top, throw on a sweatshirt and enjoy. This weather is awesome...

But seriously, as previously asked, how did you make out with the dealership? I had nothing to add to help you but was following your thread.

mattmason supposedly there's a jeep fest out on the cape this weekend... I really wish these events had been something better advertised as I had not planned accordingly to go to such a thing and so I am stuck here in Lakeville, and bored. Maybe I ought to get off my ass and start a jeep event of my own even if it is just getting people to show up here at the house and exchange ideas and find out a good place to get a trail ride in.

mattmason well its back up and running but its been too long and unfortunately the cooler weather has moved in a bit quick up here. I guess I miss being down in Georgia where you can drive the jeep naked until mid November. I picked my first one up in febuary and drove it home with it naked.

Go on the Chrysler/Jeep website. Somewhere on the site is a notification form to fill out for new owner information. Helps in notification of those odd recalls that
come up now and again. I've used it with other Jeeps that I've owned.

Well if you want someone to go out with let me know. Be happy to shadow you the first time you take her out just in case any problems reoccur.

bmpage84 Too bad you couldn't air lift it there instead of towing it! That would freak out the dealership!
07-12-2013 04:27 PM
mattmason I talked to the head mechanic already and he said he has about 30 years of experience in it and most of his staff has about 10 years, so I feel ok with dropping it off with them. but yea a lot of places are in the plug and replace mode now I actually called like three other dealers before this one to find out. now the fun of tightening things up on it so its ready to transport there. basically it'll look like my vehicles do when I'm training in the field getting ready for a Blackhawk to pick them up.
07-10-2013 08:41 AM
bmpage84 I hope it works out for you. Not sure how much faith I'd put in a dealership with a vehicle that old. Hopefully they will have a old school mechanic on staff. Most of the kids there just subscribe to the "plug and replace" theory of auto mechanics = plug it into the computer and let it tell you what to replace! Good Luck!

mattmason well next weekend ill be out of my jeep again I hope as I got the son of a bitch to run on the fourth and threw the 5th then on saterday it died again and its something about the starter relay but im taking it to the dealership on rt44 to get it done right. im so sick of this thing going to hell every time I turn around.
