OR if you just want to run the 35's swap in a ford 8.8 and upgrade your shafts in your HP30 and call it a day.

Are you trying to find out what axles you have so you can buy the gears for the correct axles? And now you want to know if 4.88s will be good? Stock YJ axles are Dana 30 front and Dana 35 rear. And 4.88s will work but you will be running higher RPMs at lower speeds. Also keep in mind its a 50/50 chance on your rear. The Dana 35 is not a strong axle for gears/lockers/big tires.
Here is what happened to my Dana 35 with <90k and 4.56 with ARB locker. The spider gears blew out twice within 500 miles.
