Thank you lockers! I seriously doubt the fence posts would have held up as winching points

Looks like a blast. I may have to try some sand soon.

For the record, the humans jumped the fence, not the jeep.

Wow, Larry! That was a great summary of your B-day/4th of July trip! I'm glad you didn't tell them that we hopped over the "boundary fence" so I could give you your realBirthday present. You are so discreet!
Sweetheart, I had a fantastic time and I, so, enjoyed your company and your friendship! It was a total blast. Let's buy us a beach house and do that more often!
Everyone, you've got to go there. Rock crawlin' is great, but switching it to the sand occasionally is alot of fun!!!

Some pix of the next day (Friday)
A camera, a $30K stand (a.k.a the jeep) and us:
Stuff will grow in the strangest places:
Just a glamor shot:
Ran into an "informal" jeep club (Tri-County Jeepers). Had to pose:
After 8 hours in the dunes and a couple on the beach, it's time to NOT pay a buck to air up:

Well, Debbie and I just got home from our 2.5 day trip to Pismo beach. I had Thursday and Friday off so we left Wednesday afternoon. Headed up to Port Hueneme and stayed at the Navy Lodge on base there on Wednesday night.
Next morning we headed up to the beach with most of the drive behind us and with both of us well rested.
Got to the park about 11:30 and spent the rest of the day playing in the dunes and hanging out on the beach. Great area and thankfully we beat the crowd that began showing up the next afternoon. Headed back to Vandenberg AFB where we stayed in the AF lodge Thur/Fri night. Vandenberg is down the road about 30-35 minutes from Pismo and it cost us a whopping $74 bucks to stay there 2 nights. Sadly, the AFB accommodations were better than the Navy ones. I guess those "sensitive" types need better care and feeding.
Friday morning we got off to an early start and hit the dunes about 0930. At times, it seemed we had the entire area to ourselves and I got a chance to run a few of the larger hills that were pretty packed the afternoon before.
Leave it to say, we had a blast and we didn't break anything (not that I didn't try a couple times. Anyone wanting info on the park can find it here: Oceano Dunes SVRA
Here are a few photos for now and I'll post up a video or two later after I edit them.
Ah, the beach:
Already crowded up:
Honey, get me the sun screen:
The guys here drive around with air compressors and charge a dollar a tire to fill up. How much to let air OUT?
Ah, a sunny day at the beach with my wife AND my jeep! Does it get better?
