|1989YJ||depending on your clearance with the space in the wheel wells,u can probably fit 31x10.50x15's if you have 30x9.50x15's on it now,my yj had 31's on it but the guy kept them when he sold it to me,if your unsure of the clearance and you have front and rear shackles u can always get a 2" shackle lift for the front and rear|

Doh! My brain took a holiday on this 4th of July. You are correct. I had just been looking at some other tire sizes. What I mentioned (the 215's) in my original post are what had the rims as well. I will stick with the 30s and call it a day. I can pick them up in the AM. The guy just took them off yesterday when he got a larger set up on his '99. Tread looks great. Beats buying brand new, under the circumstances. I have a great mechanic who'll trade everything out and balance and align for a reasonable price.
Thanks for taking the time to help me.

I didnt see 275s any where in your first post
but the 215s are way smaller than your 30s

|WoodySD||I don't want smaller tires, but didn't know the difference btwn what I have and the 275's, since the numbering sequence is different. So if you're saying that the 275's are smaller than the 30x9.5.15's, then you're right and I will stick with the 30's. I certainly don't want to go smaller, but got tempted by the rim/tire combo. I don't intend to keep this '92 for long, and simply want to make sure it has safe equipment on board. The current tires sat on the tarmac at Naval Station 32nd St in San Diego for over 2 years after returning from Bahrain, Spain, and Iraq (the Jeep traveled abroad). The current tires have flat spots which make it ride poorly, and I am using the temp spare on one corner, so I just want to bring it up to speed.|

Help with tire size on '92 YJ
I have a '92 YJ. I would like to pick up some different (used) rims and tires. The vehicle is stock. Currently it has the original chrome rims and 30x9.5x15 BFG Mud Terrains. I have access to BFG Long Trail LT with only 8k miles for $250 (for 5 tires). Or I can buy 5 P215/75 R15 with a newer stock rim style with a 5x4.5 lug pattern. I am leaning toward the rims and tires, but don't know if the P215/75 R15 is a close enough match. It's the 4th of July and shops are closed.
Thanks for any insight!
