|rusty1||Seems like its going to be a never ending process upgrading the skids and other related parts. Want to do the transfer case skid but that means an SYE and then adjustable control arms and the list goes on. Need to find me good sugar mama to help fund this addiction I have!|

There was a special on the rokmen.. about $100 cheaper then the Savvy. But the aluminum is probably worth it. I'm completely tapped at the moment however so Rokmen it is. This was an 03 skid that I twisted up btw! That one leg that was out by itself is really squashed.
Just serviced the jeep tonight and noticed I put a slight ding in the bottom of the oil pan as well.

|rusty1||The stock skid plate on the 03 and later Jeeps are way better than the thin sheet metal ones on the older versions. I just received my Savvy skid yesterday and will try to get it installed this weekend. Went with aluminum because of the weight savings, the good reviews on Savvy and plus it wasn't any more expensive than some of the name brand steel units.|

|chevymad||Oh.. and on the volume bit.. on my trip the low fuel level light come on, and I drove another 40 miles and then put 13 gallons even in the tank to fill it. Tonight the light come on just before I filled the tank.. and I put 13.8 gallons in. That 13 gallon fillup I averaged 14mpg.. So a good 2 gallons easy. Tank was not only crushed in from the bottom but folded in at the back from the deformation.|

Shocks were new then, but stock springs with spacers. That will be changed as soon as money allows. That last run was very rough for us trying to keep up with you. Beat us both up. Definatly shows the difference in a good aftermarket suspension.
I allready had a 1.25" body lift, so the skid has my tank tucked up good now. That will help some.
Rokmen sent my skid via Fedex. They know its tough.. they don't even package the thing! lol Just screwed a couple 2x4's to the flanges and stuck a sticker on it.

The high clearance pan from Rokmen is pretty cool. They recommend the body lift to help tuck it all higher, and it's bomb proof. Last weekend I took a couple of good shots to the corners of the pan while playing at Rock Garden, you could clearly see the rock dust where the impact was right on the corner, but not even a dent or a curve/bow in the metal at all.
The drawback is the weight of the steel skids. The Rockmen engine, belly, and gas tank skid combined adds a fair amount of weight. I was convinced the FedEx guy was debating throwing them through the front door of my house when he delivered them just for payback on the pain of lugging them around.
The aluminum ones I hear are just as good assuming you get the higher quality T-066(sp?) alloy. Kind of a debate here on this forum, but no matter what you choose, anything is better than the stock skids.
As far as suspension, have you changed your springs and shocks? I remember you were asking me about that after that last run we saw you at. My suspension handles pretty good, nice and soft, even softer than my JK, it just has that extra body roll.

|chevymad||Looks like it holds about 2 gal more now.. Interestingly it stays at the full mark longer as well. Usually driving home from filling up i'm an 1/8 tank down by the time I get here.. tonight it was still on full.|

My Rokmen skid arrived while I was on vacation. Today I painted and installed it.
Here's what I did to my old skid, photo makes it barely look dented.
But I even bent the mounting flanges.
All installed. Pretty easy, even with a 1/4 tank.
New clearance. This skid lifts the tank over an inch and moves it back a bit as well. Which is good since my stock trackbar was rubbing the stock skid???
Doesn't show in the photos, but the Rokmen skid has the fuel pump sump in the middle just like Savvy's. But this is steel vs Savvy's aluminum.

I've allready ground down the bottom of the pumpkins and the lower bolts. Also bent the lower lip of the covers. So appears to be a matter of time for me. Also slightly bent one of the rear lca's. It has a slight inward bend now.
Of course also wanting a real lift. Not much higher.. maybe an inch, but something that will ride a bit better over the trails. Mine is nice on the road but we had trouble keeping up on the trails just because of how rough they were. I'm surprised my wife didn't have a diagonal bruise from the seat belt actually. This was the main reason she wanted to stop and go home.

|IslandTJ||I didn't do all of mine at once. Armor was usually installed after the fact when I dented the Jeep. I've never really dented my diff covers in the 16 years I've wheeled my Jeep...|

|chevymad||Going to be a race/gamble to replace or add armor before I break something looks like. Too expensive for me to do more then a piece at a time. Thought sliders would be next, but diff covers might be smarter.|

|chevymad||Rokmen skid on the way. Bottom of my stocker is pushed up across most of it 1-1.5" I'm surprised it hasn't broken the fuel pump. I knew I was hung up pretty good on rocky uphill... or maybe it was that big boulder at the bottom of rock garden.|
