throw out bearing and loose gear shift

Good morning Guys,
newbie here I have a 2001 wrangler 4L straight shift and was told the "throw out bearing needed to be replace and it was making noise when the clutch was let out. so I took it to a mechanic and went to pick it up and the bearing was still singing but a new problem also arose. the gear shift is very loose now there is no resistance in neutral side to side and you can now turn the gear shift clockwise a quarter of a turn. Not sure what this means and what my next step should be?
