nyoungblood I live in Santa Barbara county and have not had any issues with my front plate or light on rear plate (I have neither). It is just a fix it ticket if they get you.

Steven5113 I live in Simi Valley which is just west of San Fernando valley and south of Santa Barbara and I didn't have a front plate on for like 6 months and I still have no light on my rear plate and I have never had issues, all the cops ever say is nice jeep and ask what I have done to it besides the obvious bumpers and winch. Just my 2 cents

mudbug89 i live 20 minutes from LA and have realized it's really hit or miss when it comes to how lax the law is south of santa barbra. and i'm originally from south east bama and can tell you conservative, liberal, and anywhere in between california has got it all.

Drix All 3 west coast states require front license plates. Enforced in some parts more then others.

d42bible Northern California! It be great deal for ya with the degree you have. I'm currently from redding ca it's a small but big enough town with a growing population check it out! Two beautiful lakes (Shasta lake, whiskeytown lake) surrounded by the Sierra mountains which not to far from the rubicon trails and lake Tahoe! The weather is not to bad year round as well.

206dawgfan The Pacific Northwest is about as beautiful as any place in the world. Living in Seattle I can touch the salt water and can be over the cascade mountains and be in a dry dessert in 2 hours. Oceans, volcanoes, old growth forests, sand dunes and everything in between. Come out her in the summer and you relize it's worth the gray during the fall and winter

1BLKJP Bring your degree out here to Arizona. We are in serious need of non-liberal wildlife and land managers. Get yourself a job with the BLM or Game & Fish and help us keep the trails open.

Here in AZ there are no coverage laws etc.... It's still a little bit of the old west here in AZ. We have some of the best rock crawlin in the country along with New Mexico and Cali trails within a days drive. Between Las Cruces, Arizona, and Johnson Valley Ca., you won't know what to do with yourself or your rig for several years.

I'd have to say I'm one of those people. I thought all of California was completely liberal. I think i've narrowed my choices down to Nevada, New Mexico and Arizona, given I can find a decent job in those areas. Thanks for all of yall's input!

Give congress a little more time. Hell they've closed practically everything in NorCal!

I've heard some good things about Arizona, but I don't know much about Nevada. Cali is not ideal for me....I don't think i'd really fit in being fairly conservative.

tiny terror We're central to mountain and desert wheeling (within an hour of both), the beach (30 minutes), tire laws are relaxed, and front license is often overlooked. No snow unless you'd like to see it, and mostly summer weather the whole year. But, Southern California isn't for everyone.

Moving Out West Ė Where? (Vehicle Laws and Wheeling Trails Questions)

Ok, so hereís the deal. Iím going to graduate this summer from the University of Tennessee in Wildlife and Fisheries Science with a Management concentration. Iím from the Gulf Coast of Alabama and while I like both East Tennessee and South Alabama, I want to go out West (at least for a few years). I've searched and I can't really get a good answer to what I would like to know. My question is where is the best place to move to out West? Iím leaning toward the Southwest because I donít want to deal with snow and cold weather most of the year, but Iím open to most options. My main concern has to do with vehicle laws, such as tire coverage regulations because my jeep is my daily driver. My specs are in my signature and my TNT fenders have 3Ē flares. I donít want to move to a place that is strict on complete tire coverage and Iíd rather not have to put a front license plate on either. My custom intake might create come problems, even though it uses a factory airbox from a 93 Olds Ciera. I also would like to live within a reasonable distance from some good wheeliní trails. Any insight and opinions would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if more info is needed, thanks in advance!
