Engine Light + Maintence problems

I just bought a 97 jeep and I am still kind of a newbie at driving manual. I don't have the manuals for the wrangler, and I just need some basic questions answered.

My first question: Does the jerking motion when you are going into first gear cause any damage to the wrangler? I was learning how to drive and the check engine light came on after I semi-stalled a couple of times.

2nd Question: How much coolant should be in the tank? I know it's just a reservoir tank, but when I look in the tank, there is absolutely no fluid at all in the tank, is that normal? What kind of anti-freeze to add if it's too low?

3rd question: The motor oil is somewhat low and I'm going to add some more. What kind is best?
