The only gremlins i have are emissions system related, because current emissions laws are completely retarded. Many, man vehicles have these problems.
Because it's so much better to spill a half gallon of gas on the ground than to let some gas vapor into the air, we have JKs that burp gas out when you fill it up. And my check engine light is on because of the evap leak (which is also most likely causing that problem supposedly somehow, shrug).
And because of the completely retarded TPMS system, you either have metal valve stems that break when off road, or you have a retarded light on your dash constantly because you took em out. By the way, it's retarded because there is a wheel speed sensor on every wheel for the ABS system. If one wheel were going slower than another, it's air pressure is most likely low. Why the hell would there be tire pressure sensors in the tires?
The sheet metal on JKs sucks. Too thin.
Soft doors aren't a factory option. That sucks too.
Dealership service departments dont know ANYTHING ABOUT THE JK. What kind of crap is that?
Death wobble was an issue on TJs and cherokees as well. Not a "JK problem". It's easy to fix if you read the deathwobble thread and
Oh and JK seats suck. They suck in every way imaginable.
Love my 2008. Buy a JK.

Glitches? No. Gremlins? Maybe....
My 2008JK at 57000 miles has one as-yet-unexplained gremlin: the interior light WILL come on randomly with key fob unlock sequence. It REQUIRES manually rotating the instrument-panel light stalk to shut it off.
Seems harmless enough.
Oh....there IS that down winding turbo sound also unexplained by any mechanics I've consulted.

|AustinTaylor||I've only had mine for a month but no problems. When I was 21, I bought a brand new Chevy Blazer fully loaded. Man I thought I was really doing something but I had so many issues with that thing that I swore off new cars altogether. As soon as it was off warranty, I traded it in for a year old car. Once I was in the market for something new, I started looking for a gently used Wrangler Unlimited. The few that I found were just as expensive as the new ones only they had lots of miles on them. So I had to change my thinking and do some more research. I found the new one that I wanted and I couldn't be happier. Everything in life worth doing involves a risk/reward analysis. For me, the biggest risk was buying something else and then regretting not buying a Wrangler every time I saw a bad ass one drive by.|

43 posts and no mention of the dreaded leaking roofs? Has Jeep finally resolved this annoyance/issue?
Similar to the OP, I've convinced myself to order another Jeep. I loved my '10JK. I had the hardtop and I never experienced a leak, but I was always prepared for it. I sold it in '12. Now I miss it! Since then, I've read the thread about '12 roof leaks. So, I got cold feet.
Now, I'm sitting back reviewing this thread and I'm surprised that no one mentioned leaking roofs.
I'll have to re-consider it again. That's a good thing.
Frankly, I actually miss the one piece hard top from my old TJ. I'm just a bit concerned and paranoid about the three piece Freedom Top. Too many parts could fail... In fact, I'd prefer a solid top Jeep. I could care less about open air capability. I absolutely love the style, design, capability, toughness of the Jeep. However, I'd really love to see the option for a one piece hard top!!!
Jeep, pls bring back the one piece hard top or even a solid top. I'd be first in line. That's just me.

|groovebus||Jeeps sell themselves, they should only have people that bring you the keys for a test drive. If you read anything thing about any product on the internet it will make you not want that product. Only unhappy people right reviews. I've had 5 different Jeeps and this is my second Wrangler and for the most part they have never given me a problem. Most of the problems occur after it's been overly moded by people who take short cuts. Or there are so many electronics options added to it that not all the computers talk to each other the right way everytime. I don't have that problem; no power windows, no power door locks, regular am/fm CD player and no keyless entry. It's a 2013 JKU Sport and it has less things that will break on the trail. All wranglers are awesome, but people always argue which is the best one to get. Like the joke goes, "how many wrangler owners does it take to change a light bulb? 3, one to change the bulb and 2 to argue over how much better the old one was."|

I will say the worst experiences I have had with all my Jeeps is that at the dealerships.
I have dealt with 5 different Jeep dealerships thus far and they have all been highly inept. Some of the worst, cheesiest salespeople I have ever dealt with have all been at Jeep dealerships. Chevy and Ford have only been marginally better, but yet better.

|alabamajeep||I have had a couple issues with my 2013 with 5000 miles. On 6 or 7 occasions the key fob would not unlock my Jeep and of course when I manually unlocked it and opened the door the alarm went off. Also on a few occasions I would hear a chime while driving and the red alarm light in the top right hand corner of the panel would be illuminated. Brought these issues up to the dealer and of course they was clueless....|

|Klinkenstein||So here's where I think I ended up. Buy it, love it, see what problems come up. If its a junker, trade it in near the end of my warranty and resorb all my equity. From my original purchase price, I should be able to get 23k on a trade in to dealer but I'll only owe about 13k. win win for me!|

Chrysler does not make the axles, drive shafts, axles etc. These are sourced out and the same supplier supplies just about all american vehicles I can think of. Dana Spicer and if you call them concerning the rust they will tell you it is normal and it is actually a protective oxide layer.
I have put 14000 miles on my 13 and not a single glitch other then the broken windshield. It is a Chrysler product so probably going to start having problems any day now tho.

|Zed||On my 12 I had the dreaded engine tick, bad O2 sensor, the typical bad stock bolts and the annoyance of not having any real support on the center rear seat. All in all... Awesome vehicle. Easy to work on and incredible off road. BUT Jeep as a company is terrible. Only company not to pay back the federal bailout and their cheapness shows more and more in their product. They always have justifications of course for things like thin armor, no armor where needed (diffs) etc but at least it's a vehicle that has a good base that can be taken apart and put back together the way you want. Love the vehicle. Hate the corporate company. Just my 2 cents|

My '12 was glitch-laden from Day 1 and that's why it's gone. Random events of windows not rolling down, cruise control shutting off on its own, (manual) trans hopping out of 1st and 4th gear, connectivity not recognizing thumb drives.
My '13 has been great since I took delivery in March of this year. If it's not as good a ride as my '04 F150 was (which I had for 8.5 flawless years) it'll be my last Chrysler/Jeep product.

|07tungsten||Absolutely love my '13 Sahara 6-speed. No problems yet (I only have 5k miles), but I did just add the 75k extended warranty for peace of mind. I'd say go for it if you want a Wrangler!! Trust me the fun you will have in it is worth it, sorry if I am sounding corny.|

Gremlins? I just got rid of one and picked up a new one today. 2013 with 1200 miles. Replaced the 730N radio last week as it stopped connecting to my phone. It would partially connect but wouldn't play music. That same day all sound from all sources went away. The dealer reset the unit and sound returned but it still wouldn't work with the phone. Replaced and now works ok.
Today coming back from the beach with my 6 months pregnant wife and 2 year old son the AC starting blowing warm air right as we were beginning the 4 hour drive. Shut it down, gave it a min, then tried again and it was cold for about a minute then back to warm air. Never blew cold anymore for the rest of the day. It hit 104 F outside while we were stuck in stop and go traffic with the windows down sweating our faces off.
Suffice to say I'm not real happy with mine right now. I had my 2005 for 6 trouble free years and it is still going strong with the current owner.

|jydder||Very happy with my 2012 after 17k miles. No problems.|
|07-20-2013 10:57 PM|
Like others have said, when you read things on a forum you're looking at posts from owners who are trying to get something fixed and thus they are more motivated to write about a problem that they're having. Happy Jeepers are less likely to join a forum and post that they are not having any troubles with their Wrangler.

|Shadow's_Jeep||09 JKU, purchased new. Never has had any problems.|
|07-20-2013 03:14 PM|
|Drmad7||I bought a 2008 JKU Sahara new. Replaced the driver's side window under warranty and the blower "fuse". No other issues in 53,000 miles. Had a 2013 JKU Sahara for 4600 miles and no issues. Currently have a 2013 10A with 5,000 miles and the only issue is a clunk when hitting potholes and the dealer doesn't like a rattle it makes, they are replacing the catalytic converter because they think the weld is causing the rattle because of how it was done. I never noticed that particular sound and it was not an issue. No complaints with my Wrangler(s)!|

|Samuno||Only problems with my 13 so far has been self inflicted trail damage. Mechanically it's been great. I've got 7000 miles.|

|MattK||Purchased my 2013 first week of January. Replaced water pump within one week. If you get a manual transmission you may get the dreaded 3-4 gear marbles in a can rattle/grind. Some have reported no issues others, like myself, have the grinding/rattling and Jeep has no solution really. Some poeple have had their complete transmission replaced to no affect...others have had repairs work. I htink it's just shoddy manufacturing in Germany so not all tolerances are correct.|
|07-20-2013 02:29 PM|
|BacaraJKU||I would say regarding the rust issue. I think the people who are concerned with this were people who drove Jeep off lot with the thin layer of rust on suspension parts and were upset their brand new jeep had rust. Just peak under Jeep before buying it. If it's all black you have nothing to worry about. Mine has some minor rust after a year, but the salt water from beach driving probably didn't help much.|
