fireron I had something similar happen to my company car only they cut the fuel line instead. The only good part was about the thief's stupidity. When they slid out from underneath the car, their wallet came out of their back pocket and had all of their credit cards, ID and driver's license in it. Talk about justice...the cops loved it when I gave it to them!

DJL2 Here in lovely NC you are authorized the use of force (not including deadly force) to prevent theft - i.e. laying on hands, soft and hard. I would not be surprised to see a number of other states authorize a limited use of force to prevent theft. What makes that interesting, is the follow-on because adding violence, controlled or not, rarely DE-escalates a situation.

Also, while going hands on seems cool, I recommend mace/pepper/OC if permitted by law in your area. If you don't have any experience with it, beating someone's ass is hard work. Why settle for bruised hands/knuckles, ripped clothes, tired and sweaty for some punk when I could just douse him with OC and laugh at his misery with minimal exertion?

Anyhow, sorry to hear about the fuel being stolen, but since they have made this something of a recurring event - which is TERRIBLE OPSEC - you ought to run some R&S just to have the piece of mind knowing how the $hitbags are.

Well, it is a Jeep Wrangler forum, and we are in a technical thread for the JK series, so it would be a bit off topic.

But more importantly, it tends to start arguments, and at some point, politics are brought up, and that always derails a thread. You are free to talk about guns in the "off topic" section.

That actually sounds exactly like that kind of threat. But then it is followed up by a teenageish statement. .... because if you beat the crap out of someone you are going to get locked up also

Lowerumble Guns are more than guns right now, they are a hot button issue. So he doesn't want it to turn into a political argument and get the thread locked. I do think that other poster was not threatening to get Koeda banned so much as pointing out that you are in danger of being arrested if things ever got that far.

You likely didn't hear about it because there WAS justice in this case. Really the stories like this should be more publicized to help punks reconsider. After your story though, it seems like that guy wasn't the type to learn a lesson.

I dont know what state you live in but some states allow a citizens arrest where if you witnes the perp comiting any misdemeanor or felony you can arrest and detain them at gun point until an officer arrives.

Nobody said he had to shoot the thief. Just have it for protection when he pops out and confronts them or hold them until the police arrive. Its your legal right to defend yourself if attacked and when confronting someone committing a crime they may well want to beat your ass or worse to get away.

I wouldnt confront someone stealing my gas without a gun.Thats just asking to get wacked with a club or stabbed or shot.Best plan is to call 911 and report the thief on premise and then go confront detain them with a gun and someone backing you up if you are capable of doing it safely.

Had a guy pull in my drive one night looking for something to steal. Told wife to call 911 and my son to cover me while I went out to confront him. I approached him with gun drawn and told him to put his hands up and not get any ideas as that was a rifle barrel sticking out the front door and he had a red dot laser trained at his head so If I missed he wouldnt. He turned pasty white and put his hands up and then got on the ground where I held him until the cops came.In his truck they found one of my neighbors things including a couple of guns and he was armed as well.A few weeks later he was out on bail and was shot dead after beating some old man half to death while robbing him.He had beat the old man unconscious and took what he thought was all of his guns. The old man came to and went for a gun he had stashed in the sofa and delivered justice to the punk. You probably didnt hear about it on CNN because there was no political racial story to be made.

Just kidding. That sucks. Will your insurance pay to fix it?
Good one. Thanks for all suggestions. It's a '12 so have comp coverage, but just plugged it with a shorter screw and capped it with jb weld. Got another 508d proximity sensor for da alarm and going to mount below somewhere near tank.

jadmt actually you should rig up a false container that you fill with piss and an ounce of gas so it smells like gas and drive around the next day watching for somebody with fuel problems.
07-20-2013 12:17 AM
budke get an aftermarket skid that doesn't have holes in the bottom.
07-20-2013 12:11 AM
jadmt a few years ago 3 young guys were severely burned when they put the gas they were stealing inside some open container inside their car and one of them tried to light a cigarette. Darwinism at its best.
