|OverkillYJ||Just pull the slave, open the master, and slowly push the plunger in and out to get bubbles to rise up in the master. That is how you get air out of the system.|

|BJs YJ||Ok... Does a 95 have a bleeder? My buddy is a mechanic and looking into the part and its looking like you can't bleed it. He thinks I'll need to get the slave, master and line assembly pre filled with fluid for about $170|

|OverkillYJ||Since you have a 95 it is easy to take care of. You have an external slave, so you dont need to pull anything major. Just bleed your slave and fill your master. You should be good for a long time. Just don't procrastinate because it is working at the moment or it will probably leave you stranded in a snow storm, at night, with no cell signal, and a 5 mile uphill walk to the gas station to call for help.|

|BJs YJ||Well today I think I finally felt the real clutch The peddle was right in line with the break peddle this morning and firm all the way through. Seems as thought the peddle has been about 1/3 down from the get go. Master?|

I have the same problem. It seems that the PO put ATF in the clutch master cylinder.
The MC cap seal swole up to 3 times its normal size.You can imagine what it did to the internal seals.So I am replacing the master and the slave cylinders.

|OregonPlinker||Bump the throttle when gearing down. It lines everything up for the shift. Push in the clutch, bump the throttle then shift. Also my slave cylinder on my ford is garbage so I have to pump the clutch. I only use the clutch for taking off in reverse or 1st gear. After that I just shift with no clutch...|

|cakes567||Touch your peddle with your fingers and see if you can lightly push it down a bit until it gets stiff. If its soft in the throw for a few inches then you have air in your lines.|

|BJs YJ||Bleeding the line tomorrow. But I think I have it figured out. Talked to a friend that has a manual vehicle and his won't let him hit 1st or 2nd if he is going faster than 15. Most of the time it wouldn't let me shift was when I was slowing down coming to a signal shifting into 1st or 2nd. So maybe that's what was happening as well as a possible bubble in the line. But since knowing the MPH thing I wait until I'm slower then 20 and it shifts just fine.|

|Whotheguy||Pumping the clutch and it then working, in my opinion, is a sign of the system needing to be bled. Get yourself a handheld vacuum pump, quart of brake fluid and spend 10 minutes pulling any air bubbles out. Be sure to not let the reservoir get too low=more air in the system.|

Possible trans issue
Just picked up a 95 YJ with the 2.5. PO changed clutch 4 yrs ago and haven't driven it much the past two years. I believe what PO says because shes my cousin. Had plans to build it ip but didn't. Anyway... Drove it home from Lansing with no issue. Today, driving home from work I could not shift into first or second from a stop light or stop sign. I was able to limp it out of the way of traffic. Setting in the parking lot I was messing around trying to get it into gear. I found that by pumping clutch peddle then holding it in I was able to get it in gear no problem. So I again took off into 6pm traffic. Everything worked and if there happened to be issue I pumped the clutch and it went right in gear. Is there an adjustment, is it the nature of my beast, or is there a cause for concern?
