For me, it all started when my little brother got G.I. Joe for Christmas, and his Joe came complete with accessories. He had a GI Joe Jeep. Well I coveted that jeep for months…. until one day I traded Barbie’s pink corvette in for that jeep (commandeered) and never looked back.

|xjjim||I'v had a jeep 'problem' for years! Had a 5, a 7, two Cherokees, a grand and now the TJ. So many jeeps to have, so little money!|

I bought my Jeeps because I needed something I could enjoy, work on, build, and drive. I needed something sturdy, reliable, and something that could pretty much go anywhere for work - especially since hardly anyone I work with drives a car, mostly trucks and Jeeps. If you can't drive into a disaster zone and make it out, you get to be the one stuck waving traffic all night at the edge. Not that I don't like doing that, but to be stuck with no other options, no thanks.

My dad would always talk about going and muddin an stuf with his best friend in high school in his old cj my brother owned a jeep and we went all the time, and it turns out my dads best friend from high school had a son an me and him became friends and me and him take my jeep all the time, go figure , it's basically been passed down, I didn't want a jeep at first because my brother had one and I didnt want to copy him , then I finally caved and got one for my first car and realize I wasn't copyin him I made this jeep my own and realized how personal I could make this jeep, bought it barely running and no carpet and different color doors , now I like it, still have a few more things to do but me and my dad worked on it and now the jeep is basically part of the family
When I first got it:

|Dunsouth||Always had trucks. Currently have and old 88 chevy that has been fixed up into a hunting and fishing truck. Had so much fun going through it I decided I needed something else to trick out and fix up. Well Jeeps are about as good as it gets for doing that. Wanted one for 5 years and the wife finally caved when both our vehicles surpassed the mileage on the ole huntin truck. It was my turn for a ride and I was fine with old, but she wanted something newer. She really liked the 4 door JK's. We compromised on a 2006 lj. I told her she can get the JK when it is her turn. I am happy as all get out and it is the perfect vehicle for our family. Plenty of room for the kids and I can still fit the backpacks or fishing gear in it too. Lovin the Jeep and plan to have one for good. Of course it helps to have a commuter program that provides a way to work from BFE to the city. Instead of 75 miles a day I drive 12. I can drive it everyday and not rack up miles or have to fill up every two days. Plus I keep the miles off of her. Nice!|

I always liked Jeeps for the rugged, simple, and the feeling freedom of having the top and doors off. I had a best friend who had a beat up blue TJ with lift and tires and didn't even own top and doors. Let me drive it and we went to the woods and I shot my first gun and had beer, it was one of the greatest times! I was hooked and was searching for my own Jeep.
He passed away that's why I say I had a best friend but he will never be forgotten.

Funny being under this guy ^^^ but I have a 2001 Dakota 4x4 that got me around pretty good over the years. Got out of a long term relationship that ended kinda bad and thought that after 12 years It was time for something cool and fun to drive. Never imagined that my Jeep would be the greatest thing I've ever bought.

Mine makes no sense.
I had a Dakota with a cap. I also had a kayak so I needed a rack. I was reluctant to put any money in the old Dakota.
I had always liked jeeps and wanted a convertible.
So I searched for a jeep rack. I found the Top Five rack and I was sold on the Jeep.

The story is.... Transmission started to die on my '05 Mustang. I wanted to change it up a bit and started to look at trucks in my price range. A truck could take me up in the mountains for camping without the really strange looks I got taking the Mustang.
I didn't realize that the JKU was in the same price range. My GirlFriend pointed this out to me and I was hooked. I am now absolutely addicted. I keep adding mods. And keep looking for more. LOL.

I was thinking of something quirky to write here, but the simple truth is easier.
Moab happens to be half-way between my mothers house in Arizona nad mine in Wyoming, so one year we met at the half-way point so we could all spend time with the kids, but, we don't particularly like kids, so we rented Jeeps and went 4 wheeling, been hooked ever since.
When I bought my Jeep I had no idea how much fun it was going to be, I have to honestly say that the Jeep got me out and active in a way I hadn't been since before we had kids. My Jeep became more than a hobby to me, it became a part of me in a way I never expected.

Because I live in northern New Mexico. Most of the roads here are "off".
Also, it gets me to the places where I recreate (hiking, backpacking, road & mtn. biking, nordic & alpine skiing, snowshoeing. Will be adding fly fishing and canoeing.). Also fun to drive even farther off-road, including CO and Utah. No interest in wheeling just for the sake of wheeling.

I bought my jeep for a few different reasons:
First was for medical reasons, I needed something that could get me to the hospital regardless of the season/weather conditions where as my Mazda B3000 was only rear wheel drive and I had a serious kidney stone attack on Xmas day and had to get myself to the hospital asap, and well my truck let me down that day.
Second, winters up here are brutal and we get ALOT OF SNOW!! So again, needed something that handles bad road conditions and generally bad roads all year long.
Third, I wanted a small 4x4 when I was in my early 20's (I'm going on 39 this year) but insurance was crazy back then as they were considered a high risk vehicle. Things have changed since and now insurance companies don't see it like that just because its 4x4.
Four, I wanted something that I could do some repairs myself (I'm not mechanically inclined but learning) and so far I've been alot more involved in my jeep then any previous car/truck I have owned in the past...
I may bitch at the price of gas but I love driving my jeep!

Well here is my story when I was bout 7 my dad had a awesome cj7 that I fell In love with so when I started looking for a vehicle there was no doubt that a jeep was what I wanted
We searched for months looking at over priced jeeps ( I guess even if its a rusty ole piece of crap Jeeps are expensive ) but eventually we found a 1999 chili pepper red 4.0 litre inline 6, 5 speed and the price was right so now she is mine!!!

Before my wrangler, I was driving around in a honda prelude that I bought used back in my sr year of high school. I know it's hard to believe, but that thing SUCKED in the snow. I work up at a hospital, and I needed to be able to get there no matter what the weather conditions were.
My dad used to own a YJ and I have fond memories of that thing being unstoppable in the snow, so I figured I'd go out and get a jeep and put some decent tires on it and call it good.
Things pretty much cascaded from there

|CarolinaBound||Pretty lackluster story here. Went to the dealer with the big man with the intent of leaving with a car. Was supposed to look at a 4 banger 5 speed jeep but it was at anther dealership. Guy tried to sell my 18 year old self a buick regal..what? Test drove a 200ish Sti and that thing was fun, too bad it poured out smoke when ya popped the hood and a door didn't wanna open smooth. Test drop a jeep on the lot and went home with it. In retrospect wish I had this forum haha. Got the turdy5 under it but it's been my baby since.|

Example: because they can be anything that you want
