Cons_Table So the transfer case finally crapped out on us today. A few guys took off out of town and picked up a new (to us) transmission, 231 case, 4 doors and a couple tail lights. Thankfully the tcase broke now rather than next weekend during our race!

Cons_Table Here are some pics of a few changes we made for Reno. If u have any questions, just let me know. New Rear bumps, fixed rear corners, Novak shifter cable, shackle relocation brackets...

Cons_Table Alright guys...sorry I've been slacking lately but I will see if I can get you all up to speed. So our last race was in Tooele, UT. It was a tough course, but a lot of fun from what I hear. Unfortunately I did not physically make it to this race so everything I am relaying to you all is word of mouth. We finished fifth in our class but the car held up. We feel that we would have done better but on the first lap everything bottle necked and we ultimately ended up behind the pack. This course took the hardest toll on the car. We crushed both rear corners pretty bad, bent rear bumper, etc etc. Here are pics from the race and also from some improvements we are making to race in Reno, NV next weekend.

Ya from what I can see, the trails appear to be fairly clean still. With as huge as hammertown is, its unbelievable that it stays cleaned up an maintained.

I was more meaning actual trail condition. When you put high horsepower buggies on the trail racing a lot can happen to ground beneath them. At that point, it is no longer rock crawling, but rather rock racing.

My understanding is the since King of the Hammers started in Johnson Valley, trails have gotten significantly wider, some obstacles harder, and some easier. So there is potential that this can happen out here as well.

i hadn't considered that at all... now that you mention it, i can see how that could be a downside. good outlook - maybe a change for the better, maybe not. are they pretty good about walking the trails when the races are over, so they don't look like a trash dump?

Well first off...now I think they are changing on us again I need to cruise back through my emails and verify this. It may no longer be local.

As far as bittersweet, it will be awesome having it right in our hometown. It will save on expenses and make prepping that much easier. We will have many resources being so close to home. We will also be able to do plenty of prerunning giving us an advantage. It also gives family and friends a great opportunity to come see what exactly we do.

The local race is October 17-18. That means we will get about a month between races to work/fix the car, get some prerunning in and whatever else is necessary. We are excited for this race...its kind of a bittersweet deal though.

Cons_Table We are going to be trying something new for the next race...what do you think? With some help from Blaine with Black Magic Brakes, these guys showed up over the weekend. Thank you Blaine!

Good Job. It did sound a bit "tired" on the large uphill after the Glen Helen berm. Once we watched as you stopped for about a min just about at the top and I think had to find 4L. It was during qualifying I think. SO 2 XJ's on the Podium.
I didnt drive this race. I do know that we were bumping Bailey and the Blue Yota during prelims because they wouldnt open up to let us make a pass. I do not recall the guys saying bailey bumping them. We did run into a few issues. During prelims it was acting funny. Brought it back to the pits, found the crankshaft position sensor melted. Replaced it and it ran great.

Then during finals about 15 minutes or so from the end, the car was sputtering and eventually died. We couldnt get it started to keep going. One of the guys looked at it last night, and we sheared one of the motor mounts off of the block and it was resting on the distributor. We will address that before the next race....probably with the brown dog motor mounts. We have the bushing/body mounts from them already, so just need the motor side.

We are also making a trip down King today to pick up our custom built shocks The FOAs just arent cutting it for us.
