Nice 10A! We share the same color... may I ask what you've done to it? Lift? size tires?

Btw... I was one of the first on that FB site. I finally deleted my membership. I found you actually get more factual info here on WF.. especially within the tech forums.

Welcome to WF!

Just checking to see if you were able to get on to the FB site? Also, what tires are you running and how are they for road noise? I'm about through my original Goodyear MTR's and thinking about AT's of some sort to reduce cabin noise a bit as I drive on the highway a lot.

For those wanting to join the 10a facebook page, can you PM me your name (so they can find/message you on facebook)? I will pass along to a mod of the group.

Just read earlier posts and see JKmuder is also trying to help get people into the facebook group.

JKUR10A I remember somewhere on this thread, seeing the total numbers of units built? Can someone assist? I have gone through about 300 pages but haven't found it yet? Also looking for a breakdown between Canada and USA if anyone knows it. Thanks

Here are some pix of my recent winch install. I picked this Superwinch TS9500 up for $299+ shipping ($340), on a memorial day special... that was the cheap part :-p

While this may not be for everyone, I want to keep this rig looking rather unsuspecting. This means I want to retain the factory appeal as much as I can while adding a thing or two here & there.

For this project, after the winch purchase, I bought the Mopar mounting plate ($349), the solenoid relocation cable set ($90), and the Certus wireless remote ($187), for a total of $966, which is still cheaper than the last two Warn winches I've paid for the winch alone.

(The deal with the Mopar mounting plate is that the Aniv/X/HR front bumper is "winch capable", not "winch ready". The Mopar plate completes the front bumper so that you can mount a winch in it. Yes, I realize I could've bought an aftermarket front bumper, but I like this one for now)

I was hoping this winch would mount internally in the bumper, but it is about 3/4 of an inch too high at the spool. so I trimmed the top plate to accomodate.

I clocked the left side cable mounts back 90 degrees so that the cables would not be on top. Additionally, I clocked the gear drive on the right so that the spool release would not be on top, but rather toward the rear. Both of these moves worked great because the cables are exactly where I wanted them, and they are accessible. The drum release clears the grille by just a smidge, and is easy to access.

I took cue from another user to relocate the solenoid up next to the battery. I lost the big box that went with it and mounted the solenoid alone at this location along with the relay. I was able to re-use the buss bars to connect the solenoid to the + side of the battery which kept everything clean and tidy.

My next challenge was the controller. I had the winch in how I wanted, I had the solenoid relocated, now where to put the the damn controller.... there is not the massive amount of space to work with under the hood that I was used to with a TJ, so I went with the Superwinch certus wireless controller. Found a sweet spot on the fender side of the battery, wired it up (a cinch!) and everything works perfect!

I put my wired controller and the plug for it in my recovery bag in case something fails I can bypass the wireless if I need to, just in case.

I have a couple of nit picky things to do, I need to square the winch up and touch up my grinds with some paint and that's about it.

If anyone has any questions, let me know.... thanks for lookin' :-)
that exactly where I put my soliod packed a couple weeks ago for my tigershark.

rubisteph All jks have the same windshield. The little jeeps in the corners and whatnot seen on the 2013- on (maybe even before, never paid attention), were not specific to the 10A.
10-03-2014 04:44 PM
VegasMun I'm not sure how to post a new message. Sorry! Need to replace the windshield on my 10A. Parts guy at local dealer said he saw no special 10A windshield. Do they all come now with the Jeep stamped in the lower corner or does Jeep not offer a replacement for the 10A version? Thanks!

Finding these Hard Rocks has been a challenge. They are few and far between it seems.

I think you got them mixed up. The 10A has 265/70. And rhe others 255/75. Therefore the 265/70 are a little smaller in diameter, but wider.

rubisteph Actually, the 10A tires are 1/2 inch smaller in diameter than the X or HR. 31.7 vs 32.2 but the 10A tires are a little wider I believe.
