My 1977/80/86/94 / 85 Ford
should have done the full cage prior to this
For some reason I have not pictures of my 85, or other 86 I had

Looks like the 'old days' were more fun too. I'd second guess beating a new JK like this CJ5. It's puddle hopping and jumping in the commercial with no issues. The JK would probably get hydrolocked and the shocks blow out on landing - ha.
See above video for puddle hopping.

That is way cool OP.
And LMAO @ the 80s music and bareback riding a buffalo!

Enough talking about our old '83s...let's see some pics!

Oh, and the riding a buffalo thing, that's what it felt like riding in a CJ on a road that was not well maintained. Maybe this was AMC's attempt to put a fun spin on truthful advertising...
All in all, I wish we still had that Jeep.

only in a jeep!

That commercial made no sense....
So driving a Jeep is like riding a galloping buffalo? Who the F want to ride a galloping buffalo?
Or are they trying to say a Jeep handles like a buffalo? Hmmmm...

|BonesBrigade||In the '80's you could do whatever the F you wanted....|
|08-22-2013 04:16 PM|
|Jerkstore||The ad looks like they were trying to escape the original Jason Voorhees. Which makes sense; Jason had pretty explosive speed back then.|
|08-22-2013 04:05 PM|
|Mr.Dave||I didn't know you should floor it while offroading, apparently in 83 it was common. and my lord the buffalo...perfect. I'm gonna drive my Jeep a little harder now.|

|dpostman||In the ad, the buffalo seemed to have a smoother ride, I think the girl in the CJ got a whiplash.|

Try to find that same 1983 CJ-7. In perfect condition today, it will probably be more than that $10k original sticker price

|Blastek||I love all the options like carpet, doors, and rear seats|
|08-01-2013 03:18 PM|
|joeuncool||I gotta get me a set of those "Styled Steel Wheels" for $258.|

That commercial is epic!
Didn't know buffalo riding was something people actually did...

|haystack||Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I've only had two jeeps...an '83 CJ-7 and now a 2013 JKUR. Loved/love them both!|

|traitor08||I think its funny, mpg 18 back then. Same now.|

|THW||If you use an inflation calculator it shows that $10,000 in 1983 is equivalent to $23,444.18 in 2013. So the price difference is significant, but not as large as it seems.|
|07-31-2013 08:48 PM|
^^ That is an epic commercial. Being born in '83 this is very cool to see. I mean if I saw that commercial today I would have to get one.
So if a CJ is like riding a buffalo, what is a JK?
|07-31-2013 08:01 PM|
|Burger16b||Try to find a vehicle brand new for under $10,000 can't get one in the USA. And motorcycles ect don't count. Closest is like $11,000 and dealers don't even stock them.|

|River Hill||18MPG back then. Not much better now|
