I think its a bad purchase...especially for a new person to jeeps and if its your daily driver.
you're going to get 10mpg or so as well as the cost to keep that thing running. Tires alone are about 5-600 a piece.
Find something less modded or at least smaller...

Thanks for all the replies guys. I ended passing on it. I need to learn a little more about modified jeeps before i dive in head first. plus it was an automatic transmission
I also think that building my own jeep is the way to go. I trust me, not the shady guys that told me the driveshaft vibration was its "loud aftermarket exhaust" (I almost tucked and rolled out of it in the middle of the test drive)

|whiteyjfm||That is one nice looking Jeep, and if all it takes to make it go better is to put 2 new drive shafts in, id doesn't sound to bad to me. Even a stock Jeep can break down and need maintenance. If you can get it for a thousand or 2 cheeper, it could be a good buy.|

Check out the pics it already has a CV. A 1" MML will cut that rear DL angle down.
It also has Ram steer....sweet....and you can tell from the dents on the sliders that it has been wheeled pretty good.

he is correct.....does it have a MML in it???? That driveline angle looks really steep. Other than that it looks pretty well setup and only 25k.
I paid 16k for my rubi and it had 100k on it

I just went through a similar discussion about modified Jeeps and inexperienced Jeep owners. Most folks have no idea how much money a highly modified Jeep takes to keep running. Those big angles created by the lift, as well as all the leverage the big tires add to the drivetrain cost plenty to keep running. Once you start getting that big and especially if the vehicle has been used off-road, things break. If you have deep pockets and good mechanical ability, buying a modded Jeep is a great way to go, but be prepared for major expenses... $400 for a driveshaft plus your labor to replace it is pretty common for example. Axles and U-joints are common failure points with tires the size you mention. Steering boxes can break. That nice Warn front hub conversion is really cool and work great, but getting bearings and seals when they are needed can be easier said than done depending on where you live.
From the looks of that Jeep, I can't imagine it has no CV driveshaft. More likely the driveshaft needs to be rebuilt. With the steep angles, if you don't grease those joints every oil change, they will go out very quickly.
If you are unsure, I recommend taking it to a good 4x4 shop for a vehicle evaluation before putting down a penny.

2004 Rubi with 39.5" tires, 25k miles, and all the goodies. Buy or not?
I found this Rubicon and I cant stop thinking about it. I'm not too educated on modified jeeps. If anyone could take a look and give me a thumbs up or thumbs down I would really appreciate it!
