Thoag So I did the mount with out taking off the pan it would of been easier to take the pan off but I did it fairly easy

j4j Thoag, yeah I hear that. Have you sprayed it all down with PB Blaster. That stuff will loosen anything! The key is to saturate it and let it sit for a couple hours or even a day and do it again. You may already know this, but that's all I got. Good luck man. Neil

Thoag Well the problem with my jeep is the frame is rusty and I'm afraid when I do the skid bolts that the welds inside the frame the hold the nuts for the bolts holding the skids are going to brake off and then I'm fucked

j4j Hey Waterdog, if you recall, you had to pick me up a new skid because the previous owner (your brother) bent the one that was on there. Thanks again for doing that btw. I also had to take out the spacers that were in it. So luckily I had a good reason for taking the skid off. Otherwise, great tip.

I read someone elses post the other day and they claimed if you take the four nuts off then jack up the t-case a little, that there are access holes in the skid so you can unbolt the mount from the t-case without removing the skid, slide a new one in, and bolt it right up......Don't know for sure, I've never checked that out...but I'll bet J4J wishes he did when he did his...

j4j Thoag, The mount is located "on top" of the skid plate. If you look under your jeep, you will see the skid that covers the transfercase and some of the transmission. It is held on by six bolts. Three on each side of the frame. In the center of the skid there are four nuts that are holding the t/c to the skid plate. Remove the four nuts in the center, then remove the skid. Make sure you have a jack under the transmissiom before you drop the skid. Once the skid is off, the t/c mount is the same four studs that you took the nuts off. Thoag Now this noise is like u said only when I don't ease the clutch out and this mount your talking about is that the one on the pan and how big of a job is it to do it

j4j I had a bad tc/trans mount and had a knocking noise every time I came out of first. I could however quiet the knocking by very slowly letting out the clutch. Checked the mount and sure enough it was split in two.

Shelby427 could be. But the knock noise could also be from a weak or broken motor/trans mount.

As for the ticking, you could pull the rear drive shaft, put it in 4WH and see if the noise is there or not. If it's gone then u joint or diff problem most likely. If it doesn't go away, then you will have to check elsewhere.

Something else, if the Jeep is lifted the shifter can sometimes hit the tub when shifting hard.

Funny noise when letting clutch out hard

Ok so when I like engage the clutch fast I hear a knock type noise and when I shift into second it does the same thing and there is a ticking noise when getting up to speed the u-joints are good and suggestions sounds like the rear diff
