fbtased2002 I found the same bolt broke on my passenger side last year with no damage to the jeep. It was not metric and I think it was 3 in long. like the other guys said I just took the torx from the other side of the roll bar to the hardware store and replaced both with grade 8 hex.

Pylonpounder Was planning on it, but thanks for the advice anyway

Pylonpounder I didn't take it off in the first place-The previous owner somehow managed to snap it off, and the weld, without denting, scratching, or otherwise harming the jeep. 205K miles, guess it just got worn and snapped from the vibration or what have you..but the part of the bolt I DO have, that was inside the short piece of roll cage, has been quite clearly sheared in half, by whatever force.

What makes that more odd is the previous owner is a little old lady with no husband and no children. How the hell did she pull that off? The radiator was also missing 85%+ of its fins...but the rest of the jeep is fine. Except for the rust that comes from being located in North Eastern PA for 205k and 15 years, the jeep has obviously been driven fairly nicely, all electronics and mechanical things are in quite excellent shape, considering. Who knows, lifes mysteries..

93yjsplash ya i got one to replace it that was just a standard hex head and i liked it so much i did the other one too as a mater of fact i am thinking of redoing the whole jeep with hex bolts

if you don't mind me asking why did you take it off in the first place?

Pylonpounder Yeah, taking it to the hardware store seems like the best (And most obvious ) Solution. Thanks alot though, for everyones advice.

Pylonpounder Not quite. From my understanding, looking at bestop.com, those bolts aren't on the actual rollcage. In more detail; The horizontal support bar (Rollcage bar going from windshield to main rollbar-the only one that crosses the vehicle-) slips OVER another piece, only about 4 inches long, and is held to this smaller piece by a tamperproof torx bolt coming in from the top. The smaller piece is welded onto the main crossbar, and on the rear side of the crossbar there is a torx bolt going through the crossbar, into the smaller piece. The weld is just in support of this bolt.

Pylonpounder That's basically my last ditch choice, but at this point I'd rather find the right bolt...and also, find out what diameter bolt I need. Thread size is right, but the diameter is not. I don't think it's a 12, but can't find 11's anywhere.

stevens243 It sounds like you are describing the door surround bolt.

I don't know the details of the bolts but look at bestop.com for YJ door surrounds. You might have to call to get the bolt info.

RednekYJ Buy the longer bolt and cut it to size if it comes down to it.

Roll cage bolt, please help

There is a bolt on the back side of the center rollbar on either side, that holds goes through the rollbar and holds another piece (The piece going from windshield frame to center rollbar). This bolt broke, and I managed to get it out, etc- However, I Can't for the life of me figure out what bolt size it is. The thread appears to be metric, 1.25 X 20. The bolt diameter is in the range of 10-12 MM, but it wasn't 10(With a little work, the 10 just slipped through the threads), I believe 12 will be too large, and I can't find 11. Also, the best place I found (Allensfasteners.com) went from 70 MM long (just barely too short) to 120 MM, which would be way too long. Simply put, knowing the things I discovered that don't work, does anyone know the bolt size, and where I could get it-Or better yet, does anyone have a parts jeep with said bolt, that I could buy the bolt from?
