Randolph 2resa, do the rings or anything else rattle around at all? This looks super-useful, if it's quiet.

We run the ones from Mac's tie-downs BTW.

Oh this is cool! I'm starting to like this the more I look at it!

I used butterfly nuts on the underside b/c it's a tight squeeze with the wheel well. So each side has three bolts holding it down. Make a simple template. The Jeep body curves and my middle hole ended up being off. Also need to make sure you drill in the open part of the rail rather the notched in parts so that you can get the bolt in there.
Thanks. Nice, simple mod.

Quick question: If I'm understanding the online info correctly, the pre-drilled holes in the rails are 6" o.c. My JKU bolts appear to be about 12-1/4" o.c. What was your experience, and did you have to ream the factory holes to make it work?

I ended up having to trim the rail down a couple inches. Also, the holes didn't line up but drilling a couple new holes in the rail wasn't a problem. I'd make a template if I did it again. I ended up being about 1\2 inch off on one. I also put foam btwn rail and Jeep to prevent scuffing.

Lusus_Naturae Nice job! If I only had a soft top I'd be doing this myself and leaving it there.

2resa I ordered some today and will let you know how they work out. Top isn't an issue with me but if you're constantly taking your hard top on/off then I guess it could get old. For me what's old is trying to reach for groceries that have rolled out (should mention that I have the tuffy tailgate enclosure so I can just open tail gate and get everything).

Thats true too. I dont know, it will probably have to be a one off for you, may have to try to find a fabricator to make a set, maybe contact ACE and see if they could do it, if its worth their while, they could put them in to production, who knows. I may be interested in a set that could stay bolted in place when using the soft top.

I'm not sure how strong the top of the tub is, so maybe that's why no one has come along with a product like this.

the Kolector THANKS!! That is definitely a good idea, I was thinkng OP was referring to the top of the rail, tha part directly underneath the lip of the hard top.

2resa Kolector, love your Dr. Seuss quote. The Lorax is my favorite.

I was thinking that the latch points being off the bottom would be more useable at times. Sometimes I just want to secure a bag of groceries from rolling all over. I measured and it would need to be trimmed but since it's aluminum, shouldn't be an issue.

the Kolector There is an accessory available for the TJ http://www.quadratec.com/products/11019_2000_07.htm that covers the top the tub, its a thick plastic/vinyl piece. I have been wanting something like that for the JK but have yet to find it.

EDIT: Was just thinking, you could always just bedline the rail.

sqdnguns I posted something similar with very little feedback. Hopefully you'll have better luck than I.

bfschor With all the aftermarket items available for our Jeeps, I'm really surprised this isn't one of them. There's tons of styles for pickup beds, but nothing for the Wrangler??? Really??

BacaraJKU There was another member looking for something similar. Not sure they found a solution, but said they had seen a Jeep with rails/cover. Maybe be a custom item.

Tub/Bed Rails??

After I remove my hard top, I screw the bolts back into the bolt holes along the top edge of the tub from where they came from (so I don't lose them).

I'm wondering, does someone make rails that could utilize the bolt holes for which the hard top is bolted to? It would be cool as I could use the rails as tie down points when carrying items in the back.

I "Googled" this and only found rails that mount to the side of the tub, but I'm wanting rails that mount on top in the pre-existing holes.

Anyone?
