nubby105 I agree on the music info. My wife's old wrangler had a split screen ability to show music info and nav on separate halves.

Yes, I have the channel art on 43.xx.xx although I always have it off as I would rather see the song info instead.

I agree, sounds like you have the best of both worlds.

Bearkat, do you have the channel art on 43?

Bearkat Thanks for clarifying that blueman9. I am still running version 43.xx.xx, haven't found a need to upgrade to 50.xx.xx yet and since there is no file out there to revert back to 43.xx.xx I am hesitant to do so until I need to.

nubby105 @blueman9 I have a 2011 WK2, also updated to 50.x.x and have the same layout.
07-02-2014 01:59 PM
blueman9 Hey guys, for some clarification on the info pictures I looked at what my 2012 430N RHB has, and the layout is different than bearcats, but you can still get the same info. This is what I see.

So instead of pressing on the three dashes you just have to press the "Info" button.

BTW this is in 50.xx I have already re-upgraded after a successful installation. Mine worked out the same way as bearcats, with the failed message.

The 430 nav unit is still available in the 2014s as is the 730 nav unit.

Insert thumb drive with 2004.10 files on it and it just says please wait, reading files for over an hour. Never gets beyond that.
Here are a few notes on how to get this to work:
  • Make sure that you are using the full North America maps, not just the US.
  • Make sure that the thumb drive is formatted in FAT32 not NTFS.
  • On the thumb drive, create folder named "Garmin".
  • Copy gmapsupp.img into Garmin folder.
  • Rename gmapsupp.img to gmapprom.img <-- IMPORTANT (lower case and yes it matters).
  • In the “Garmin” folder create a folder called "JCV"
  • Copy the junctions file into “JCV” folder. You MUST use the correct matching junction file otherwise the junctions WILL NOT WORK.

Here is a list of the correct Junction Views files for a specific map version.
2014.10 - D3060100A.JCV
2014.20 - D3060110A.JCV
2014.30 - D3060120A.JCV
2014.40 - D3060130A.JCV
2015.10 - D3060140A.JCV

If following this and it still hangs on reading files, I would try a different thumb drive.

Radio Model

@Bearkat

What Radio is that?

My 430N RHB doesn't show the arrows on the Left side like yours. Mine are on the bottom. I will look later to confirm if I have the 3 lines (menu)
06-30-2014 11:26 AM
Bearkat Also, I used the full North America maps and full screen junction views. The total size on the thumb drive was 2.87 GB (3,092,474 bytes) and as I mentioned only took ~45 min using a 2-3 year old SanDisk 16 GB thumb drive formatted to FAT32.

Bearkat I hope these screenshots help anyone having issues.
06-30-2014 11:19 AM
Bearkat First:

Press the MENU button on the right side to get to this screen and click on NAV SETUP.

Then press MAP

Then click on the menu bars in the upper left corner of the screen

Then click on INFO

And viola!

Second:
The files were like this organized on the thumb drive like this.
Garmin\gmapprom.img
Garmin\JCV\D3060130A.JCV

Great! Two quick questions: how did you access the screen in that last pic to show what version maps you installed?

Also, did you just place the two files by themselves on the USB drive? Or were they in the respective GARMIN and JCV folders?

How did you get to that last screen? (map version)

cent628 Just to let you know I installed 2015.10 in my 2012 Nissan Frontier Pro X with a kenwood dnx radio yesterday, it worked fine, but would not install in my 2014 Jeep Wrangler. On kenwood you just place the files on a sd card and change them out, no firmware changes or anything.

cent628 Has anyone tried to update to the 2015.10 version of north america garmin maps? i downgrade to 33.xx then tried to install maps. Keep getting an error stating "map update not installed successfully xxxxxx"
06-28-2014 05:17 PM
FregiVentum I fought with it more this weekend and it appears to me that my RHB13 verson of the 430n will not process the gupdate.gcd file on the 33.x.x update disc. When I attempt a downgrade from 50, I receive the message "wrong product number within GCD update detected" followed by PND update failed. Regardless of the radio software I am sitting on v4.07 of the garmin software.

When I first applied 50.00.07 it updated the garmin system software to the version it is now but it simply will not downgrade again. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get it to downgrade by chance?

Thanks!

EDIT: rereading it appears I am having the same issue as Firefly on pages 8 and 9, also having upgraded from version 44 to 50, then down to 33.

mudhack coastiejohn - Thanks for the information on the update, and for the vote of confidence. I just finished trying the map update to 2014.40 from whatever 2009 version is on there, but got the map not compatible note. I downloaded the US only version, so now I will start the multi hour download of the North America version and try it tomorrow...

And I have gotten good at mechanical maintenance and just finished up a complete rewire of my Jeep so I have some electronic maintenance. Unfortunately it is limited to my 1978 CJ-7 which is extremely simple compared to this JKU!

Secondly, if it is updated will it change the picture that pops up? Her Jeep is the 70th Anniversary and I like the unique logo! Upgrading to the 50.xx is I think for the most part personal preference. I had some wonky Bluetooth issues with my iphone that cleared up with the update. Your picture will not change, it is an update that works through all Chrysler models so no "files" are changed or lost just the operating system and interface. And as far as having someone send a disk treat it as learning new stuff. You learned how to do a lot of your own mechanical maintenance (I assume) now you are learning a bit of electronic maintenance as well

FregiVentum Well, unfortunately I seem to be having the same issue as did membrain in post #122 on page 5. When I go to do the update I am taken to the Nav Update screen and am then given, almost immediately, the error "Map update was not installed successfully. Please retry update procedure or contact your dealer for assistance."

I have successfully downgraded to v33 w/ the blue buttons, and attempted this with two different FAT32 formatted thumb drives. I have double-checked and verified the file structure, naming conventions and even capitalization. I have tried both the split and full view JCV files. I have only attempted the full North American version of v2014.40.

I am unsure if it is due to a corrupt download of the .IMG file, or perhaps a newer version of the RHB hardware (I have a 2013 vehicle). I have upgraded back to v50, and will continue to watch this thread.

Thanks again everyone for their work and your input coastiejohn.

Awesome! Thanks so much. :-)

With that, wish me luck! Trying the full NA w/ the split screen junction views directly. :-)
