|vintageagain||thanks for the reply guys. Finally did the swap and there was a CLEAR difference in flywheels and sensors. Since i was keeping the 95 computer i just swapped all that stuff over. Works great!|

you're better off if the fly wheel and bell housing are different. the best way to do this is keep everything in the 95 that is in there now, other than the bad parts. might wanna think about a new clutch now to.

agreed, i'm trying to update the engine and everything to 95, just trying to find the easiest way.
i see the flywheel is different too. I was really trying not to detach the tranny.

you're way better off keeping the original engine management and fuel injection. swap the manifold off your 95 thats no good, and put it on the 89 motor. its been a while since i looked at the cps on those motors, but just do whatever you have to do to use the 95 sensor and harness. swap bellhousing or whatever.
i strongly advise not hacking your wiring, and/or installing tbi in your 95.

Crank Position Sensor Compatibility
So i'm in the middle of putting a 89 2.5 (w/MPI swap) in my 95 yj. The motor was shot so i bought another jeep with a poor body and am swaping the drive train. Through my research i have found the crank position sensor for the 1989 is different from the 1995. Any suggestions on how to handle this?
Can i just cut the connector and replace with the 89 connector? Can i just swap out the sensor and not worry about the flywheel?
for simplicity i'm trying to swap the n231 ax5 and 2.5 as an entire unit from one vehicle to the other.
