|CyndiB||You might not need to replace your gauges, the connections may be corroded. Remove the plastic dash panel that covers the gauge cluster, then carefully remove it and clean the connections with a pencil eraser. There are some good instructions for doing this if you search this forum. I did this on my 90 and got all the gauges except the clock to work. Most of the dash lights were burned out too, so I replaced the bulbs and now everything works. Good luck!|

Ok shifting problem was a vacuum hose that I temporarily plugged for trouble shooting. Also my friend and I noticed that the alternator and power steering pump are loose... Time to adjust.
I have to find company mufflers that will actually quiet it down a lot. Thoughts?

|shadowbethesda||So now I am having some shifting problems... Like it won't leave first gear unless I back off the throttle. I suspect it's vacuum related and plan to take a peak underneath the rig this morning.|

|shadowbethesda||So Saturday I am picking up a hardtop to go with the full doors I acquired. Sometime during that day I will change the oil and filter and install the new transmission dipstick as well. If I find the time hopefully I can install the shifter as well (but I doubt it).|

|sweatnblood||I put in a LS 5.3 on my 94...still using the 4cy radiator with a electric fan out of a T-bird...early 90's I think and it dam near pulls the jeep in netural...so that might be a option...but I don't do any real hard rock crawl'n so I really don't need a huge one to keep things cool|

Yes that's JB weld on the trans dipstick input... Sighs... Ideas? Lokar flexible dipstick? Duct tape? Chewing gum? More JB weld?

|Dano222||Little History lesson . . . You may do the same, but, I often think of what all my Jeep has been through, where has it all been, and who has owned it through the years. Just makes me wonder, it is now in retirement, living a life of leisure being pampered.|

The plan... First I have to make basic fixes.
Transmission Pan Gasket/Filter/Fluid and Dust Cover
New Ignition wires and plugs
New air filter
Then the more serious.
Replace homemade shifter with B&M Z-shifter
Put in bigger Radiator
Repair Gas Gauge
Install aftermarket Tachometer
Then to move onto the ratty looking interior... Pics to follow.
Having owned a Jeep before... We'll see what other surprises pop up.

Shadows YJ Restoration Log
Long story short I owned a CJ7 years ago and sold it while I was in college and I needed the money. Fast forward a few years and I meet a couple of my neighbors while they are walking their dogs by my house and I find out that they have a non-running Wrangler sitting in their driveway. A little negotiation later and the Jeep is mine within 2 weeks of meeting them.
The body... Chalky and tired looking. These pics are the first time I saw it.
This is after I got it running enough to get to my house.
The mystery engine... So I know there is a V8 under the hood and it's and auto but what the hell are they out of???!!!! The WranglerForum comes to my rescue. Chevy 307 mated to a TH400 Automatic.

After much cleaning of the outside I find shiny paint... This will do for now.
