Jerry Bransford Once again, his older PS system is not compatible with ATF+4, the seals will not hold up.

nicolas-eric Thanks Jerry.
Did the power steering change during the years? In another Forum they told me that ATF+4 isn´t in the older FSMs because it wasn´t available i the earlier yeras and it came out in 2002 or 2003.

His FSM says he needs Mopar power steering fluid. His old fluid is clear and not purple like ATF+4.

The problem is that his next Jeep dealer is 120 miles awayx from him...

Jerry Bransford No, only newer TJ power steering systems are compatible with ATF+4. He must specifically use power steering fluid in his 2000 TJ.

Steering Fluid ?

Hello.

What kind of steering fluid does a 2000 TJ 4.0L need?
In my buddies 2000 owners manual they sax he has to use a special Mopar fluid. My 2006 manual says that I need ATF+4. Can I use ATF+4 in his older TJ?

Thanks.
nicolas-eric
