|Kobrah||Coming from somebody that works at a dealership, that is complete bull. The $75 everyone has to pay for tread lightly or any other affiliate program, its an administration fee. But a documentary fee is different all together, it has to to with your tags. The standard is $131, and after everything else should be about $179 if your transferring a tag, give or take depending on what state your in.|

|hipshot33||the doc fee for the tread lightly program may be completely different from the doc fee you are seeing.... many dealerships charge doc fees on each sale .... check what is standard for your dealer.|

For me the tread lightly thing was a waste of $100. I got a better deal than the 1% anyway and didn't even use it.
Oh well, maybe it's a worthy organization. I won't renew though.

IIRC, Pat from Fields Jeep in Chicago said that if a dealership honors AR, they must adhere to all the terms and conditions.
You may want to read/search through the 2014 information thread or send a PM to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hope this helps!

Not much else to do. They got you where they can. If it is the dealership's policy to not negotiate the doc fee, and you think it unfair, you are right. No penalties I'm afraid.

Tread Lightly / Affiliate Discount
I am a tread lightly member. So I should get at least 1% below invoice. The paperwork I received states that a Maximum of $75 admin/doc fee can be charged.
I go to the dealer today. I am bid $5,000 for my trade in. I am shown invoice less 1% on the wrangler I want to order. At the bottom they have a $500 doc fee. I explain the max allowed in the Tread Lightly terms is $79. Salesman says there is nothing he can do about that.
The way I see it, they bid too high on my trade in and simply want me to pay up or kill the deal.
Are there any penalties for dealers that don't honor the terms of the affiliate programs? Other than walk (which I did), any suggestions?
