Yeah, if it has more or older trails that would be cool...

Didn't know there was a Utah version. Yer right, it might come in handy for Moab, so far all I have seen are pics of Hells revenge...

WOKNROX The Northern Cal book is good to have also....because it starts so low..south of the El Paso Mtns... 58 and 395....that's on 20 minutes from my place...

toad There is some backwoods camping up near Whittle Camp near Fawnskin. All dry camping (meaning no water, toilets, fire rings) but is free and is usually pretty easy to get a spot with no one else around but still close enough to civilization. The only downside is no fire is allowed. There are also a few yellow post sites in the area but they are first come, first serve. Those sites have tables and fire rings.

You can get a map to all of the spots at the Discovery Center. The rangers are very helpful. :-)

trau Hey guys, sorry to hijack, but I have a related question...

My wife and I are heading up to Big Bear area Sunday/Monday, looking to do easier trails (we're learning). So we definitely won't be tagging along on John Bull or anything like that, but we'll be looking for a place to camp. We can get a little deeper into the bush now with the Jeep than we could before, so wondering if any of you have any tips on where we might find an off-the-beaten-path type campsite somewhere. I'm sure a lot of sites will be full, but the ones that are a bit harder to get to for the standard weekend camper in a Saturn are what we're looking for.

Might push the jeep a little bit outside of our comfort zone one a more moderate trail, but we don't know the area at all (from Michigan) so we'll be on the lookout for other groups, but we don't have a CB yet so we can't really monitor much... If you see a big bald bearded dude and a cute brunette white-knuckling it on the bunny trails in a white LJ, stop and say hello!

Thanks all, have a good weekend

Sunday would be better for me, but not sure I want to drive up for Gold Mtn. So might do Sunday, but also just did JB two weeks ago.
