I realize the thread is dated, but on the OP's original question, the PO of my jeep put a stroker in it. It had a good "seat of the pants" increase but you wouldn't mistake it for a Chevy V-8 (or Hemi). He was a Chevy V-8 fan at heart, and being borderline OCD, the stroker was removed and LS was installed.

No it's a genuine Mopar Stroked 4.7L I-6...Mopar P/N P5155627.

I don't know what got me going on this 4.7L topic but I was doing some searching and saw that Mopar actually offered a 4.7L."crate" engine, but after searching around it doesn't look like they're available anymore.
Why is that and are the builders mentioned above still making them?
Surprisingly not much came up when I searched Mopar 4.7

Many thanks for the advice, noted the 10-30, but what do you mean with conventional oil for the 1st 1000 miles ? Do you mean mineral oil instead of the synthetic 10-30 ? And which Grade / Specification?
Many thanks for the support, here in Portugal most of the Wranglers are 2.8 CRD Turbo Diesel JKs, there is not much knowledge abt the AMC Engine TJs, so this is why I ask for your help.

Just a thought here. I worked at Scat and Chad at Golen was my customer. He is the guy you should thank for these cranks. He sent in the samples and told us what he wanted to have to make them live. He fought for us to make a small volume run item. Nothing against ATK but Chad was the guy who started the whole thing in the first place.

I like to run conventional oil for the first 1000 miles or so.
Then change it and run what flavor of 10-30 you like.
Joe Gibbs has a real nice break in oil. Or you can get a additive

What about running premium gas only. I have read that this is the case with Stroker's for Jeeps. Any thoughts?
I wonder what 4.10 gears and the Stroker would be like...

Best oil for a 4.7 Stroker.
Would like to know what are the right engine oil specifications for a 4.7 Stroker done on the AMC 4.0 6 cylinders ?
Also how many miles shall I run with the first oil.
GTX 10w30 with STP is the best approach or simply MOBIL 1?

|philk||well guys, i asked atk what was in the engine, this was what i got back,,stock block .060 bore size completely machined, stock oe head re machined,, scat 3.906 stroker crank (atk developed with scat) speed pro dished hypereutectic pistons h802cp ,, hastings moly rings, mahle main and rod bearings, comp# 86-232-4 206/212@50 .460/.476 113lsa , sa gear timing chain , federal mogul lifters , melling std volume oil pump,, fel pro gasket set,, well in talking to them they said the valves were stainess steel,, you can put 24# injectors if you want , i have not done so yet, dont know if i will,have not heard of anything on these stroker engines from atk, but have read many problems on all other brands except the ones out of alabama, forget the name but they are 5-7,0000 with the same rated hp as the golen.you change your injectors you need to get a computer to lie to the oem unit or you get no benefits from the change, if i do its going to cost 900.00+ 50 per injector and 600.+ for the plugin computer.really cant see what type of diff. i will get for my 900.00, i run 31s an have the 3sp auto an can eat a set of tires if i wish cant see having close to 300 hp , i barley touch my gas pedal an um gone , with better fuel mileage, happy as can be.. do ya homework and good luck with your choice.|

Hey Phil, did you do the stock rocker arms, or did you opt for the rollers? I am thinking that I would probably do them at the same time. I'm thinking for the decrease in drive line loss and the increase in lift, they might be a good addition. Which injectors did you go with?

|philk||I did it, atk makes a 4.7 stroker, the hp24,, best thing i have done, and yes i would do it again, 2year unlimited miles warranty, they say it has only 205-210 hp with 280 tq, well i have a 64mm bored throttle body, hi flow kat and muff, with 307 gears and blow away cars,trucks whatever, one set back, hightest gas only, one plus, better fuel miles than stock engine by far, with my foot in it around town 40miles more per tank, highway miles even more, i checked out strokers for months, for the buck i got the best one,an love it.have almost 6,000 miles on it and still rolling.|

I did mine because the little 2.5l I had in my girl started to lose compression.
Looking back, it probably would have been a little less expensive to get a "crate motor".
But it is done...
Great torque! I cannot comment on gas mileage as of yet.

4.7 Stroker: IF you did it, was it worth it?
Title says it all. IF you did it, would you do it again? Thinking about doing the Mopar 4.7, then doing roller rockers. What is the "seat of the pants" difference. Was it worth the money and were there any major Gotchas?
