gadley Ya, i replaced the Thermostat aswell. so i shouldnt worrie about it unless it is over heating? Thanks for all the help

tlrrob1000 Good glad you got it done. You did replace the thermostat right? If you did...did you replace it with the same temp rating? Sometimes they were offered with different ratings for a paticular vehicle.

gadley Just finished it. It was pretty easy, however now it is running a little hotter than before. Not over heating, just a little hotter

Rainycity That pulley is coming off your water pump,, Thats one of the easier things you can do on a jeep,easy fix..

kik The "explosion" is the coolant blowing through the expansion tank that's why you don't see a leak. X2 on the water pump. While you're at it, replace the thermostat.

buckshot500 It's not hard to replace, & won't kill your wallet much.

Be sure to get all the old gasket off the engine's mounting surface & use some "High Tack" to stick the new gasket to the new pump. This way it won't be stuck to engine too bad, next time your in there.

tlrrob1000 Yep the water pump. I have had water pumps leak only while running and leak only when not running. If the pulley is loose you lost the bearing in the pump.

Coolant Explosion

I have a 93 Jeep Wrangler. I just replaced my radiator, fan clutch and serpentine belt about 200-300 miles ago and it has been running fine, I drove about 20 miles turned off my jeep and turn it back on a little later, and in about 100feet of driving I smelt coolant and my engine was over heating. I pulled over and coolant was every where, but I could see no obvious sign of a leak in the radiator or surrounding tubes. After Poring water in the radiator to get home, it didnt really seem like it was leaking anymore.
The pulley that the fan clutch is attached to seems like it is lose, for the fans motion is not in a concentric motion. What is the cause of the loss of coolant and does my pulley need to be replaced or tightened?
