5spdftw The Rockhard carrier & bumper is solid, holds a 35 no problem, and doesn't rattle. I have a highlift in between the tire and the tailgate though so it's not as close as some other options.

UnlimitedLJ04 running a Bestop tire carrier. works great, but the provided bolts suck monkey balls. plan on replacing everything included with grade 8 from your local hardware store. also, getting it correctly setup during install can be challenging, so make sure you take your time and use common sense.

OpieDP the OR Fab carrier that holds Jerry Cans still holds the tire pretty far out, the one without jerry cans looks pretty tight in from what I have seen.

jmcc75 how about the Or Fab tire carrier?

Owen_TJ The only downfall with the exogate is I'll be running a drop down tailgate conversion so that won't work for me...

jscherb The Gr8Tops Exogate holds the tire closer to the gate than pretty much any other heavy duty carrier out there (TJ/LJ Exogate™ Tailgate Kit)

Tire carrier question

Hey everyone...been searching to find some specs to answer my question but am having a hard time.

I'm looking for a tire carrier that is of course solid quality and won't rattle but I'm really looking for a carrier that holds the tire as close to the gate as possible.

I've got 35's and with my trektop nx, most carriers really look like they're holding the tire pretty far out from the gate.

Any help is much appreciated...

Thanks!!
