Spicoli Yeah, the dealers aren't very much help.

What did you guys use to keep the battery from dying? Just hook the battery up to a jump start battery pack?

My dealer, Westbury JEEP, told me they didn't get involved with this.

lagalaxy8 Where can you get these updates without a virus knocking out your computer like the link on page 14?
jjbroze For firmware updates, burn a CD

Spicoli Nevermind, I've found the 50 firmware update link after reading through the thread.

Grabbing a copy of 2014.40 as it seems that is the last working version able to be updated, even though 2015.20 is out.

Going to install the maps first, then work on the Firmware.

Grabbed the D3060130A.JCV file as well as the City Navigator North America NT 2014.40 (Image Unlocked) file.

Will report back with results.

How are you guys updating the firmware? CD or USB? Just throw the .iso file on a blank FAT32 formatted flash drive or burn to a blank CDR? From what I've read, it's recommended to burn the firmware onto a CD vs USB?

Spicoli Hey, where are you guys finding the firmware updates?

I'm currently running 33.01.19 with 2012 maps and would love to update both.

biddysere Well, being ignorant, I was thinking a gps is a gps. Now I am understanding that my radio, the RER, is not able to update maps. Has to be some way to do it though?!

Did you roll back the firmware first? Mine worked great after loading 33.x.whatever.

Thread Dead?

I guess this subject is dead and buried, even though it seems no one found the way to update their maps?

biddysere So, I have tried to read every thread here but still nothing. Loaded folders they way others said to do it, etc. but when I plug in my usb, the only thing that comes up on the screen is photos, address and music file folders. What am I missing?

THUDDOME Been a while since I've been out here. Let me answer a few questions...

"PND Did not Update" is not a big deal, it's the Jeep update for Garmin which is probably 5 years old. I have never once seen the PND update work.

Yes downgrade firmware before you can update anything, I always go back to 33.xx just because.

If you are downloading files from torrents, that's probably your problem, check the MD5.

You must do it @ version 33.xx
have ready a 4gb or greater usb formatted to fat 32.
then create a new folder called Garmin. then put only the file gmapprom.img
on root create another folder called JCV. then put only (choose only ONE) JCV file from (2014.30, 2014.40 or 2015.10) it's 0k.
AND YOU'RE DONE!!
at the time you put the usb drive to your mygig system (front face of stereo only) be prepared with your jetmouse software, here the instructions: when the system reaches and prompt you to put the code, at your pc or laptop (running jetmouse software) you must enter your exact unit id, which is at system>info or about button 8 digit number, then select, nextep is to leave the option Garmin Mobile XT software unlockode mustblank, the map product id, hit click there and go to the last option (custom) for example the 2014.40 maps is 3187, finally click generate, beware of not to hit the exit button. write the 25 character code, and put it on your mygig. AND YOU DID IT!!! athend the system will display an error message but don't worry, once the process is done you could check it by yourself that the map by itself is updated, and also you could check the version on maps, and info.
Cheers!....
Aaron,
You can do the code ahead of time and write it down.
I do it in groups of 5 characters
so I make sure it is entered correctly.

I used a 32gb Sandisk thumb drive formatted to FAT32. The first couple files I would plug it in and it would never search and recognize the map updates files, the 3rd one above worked.
it doesnt even go that far. after 5 minutes I plugged the usb drive, it gives me that error

1quick1 Okay I got mine to upgrade to 2014.20. I think the 2014.40 update files I was trying weren't the right ones. I also did the high res JCV for the junction views but haven't noticed any difference compared to what was already on there.
08-11-2014 02:46 PM
sean79 I am starting to think the 2013 devices cannot
be upgraded!!!

I also did this by putting the 33.xx.x on another disc drive and inserting that and it reads for a few seconds then says no files.
