wasomma Is it cold or parked at an angle when you try and start it?

stretch05 I'm going through some stuff right now. My issue started with long cranks. Only a few before it didn't start. The starter was bad. An easy thing to take off and have a parts store check. That wasn't the only problem. Mine appears to be the Ecm. If your check engine light doesn't come on when your jeep starts it is related to the Ecm. Bad connection or unit, up to you to diagnose, but if you can't start some day, check for that.

Francotirador What if you try and jump the everything! Start the jeep from starter.......ie. jump the cumputer.

panzer-yj Fuel pressure regulator was first thing I replaced. Still long a** crank times. Beginning to wonder if the ECU has been manipulated and stuck in a closed loop. Seems to be running awful rich.

87 Florida YJ OK. I'm an admitted Dragon groupie but I knew he would help. If it was my jeep and the long crank was annoying I would invest the 50 bucks and replace the regulator based solely on his input. No guarantees but IMO he knows everything worth knowing. Definitely one of the four I was hoping would jump in.

harleydragon could be fuel pressure regulator..normally as they start going bad the engine will only be slow to crank after sitting for a while and then gradually that sitting time will get shorter until it does it all the time..But,as in anything what is normal is not always the case

87 Florida YJ Where are the JeepMasters when I need them? Come on boys you're making me look bad

87 Florida YJ I admit I am clueless as to why both if you unfortunately have this problem but I refuse to believe its 'normal'. Between the three of us we have a 94,92 and an 87 that starts in an instant. Immediately, to me that flys in the face of logic because not even Chrysler would design newer models to perform worse than previous models ***. Something has to be the culprit here.

I will bet you both lunch there is one Forum member that knows exactly why you have this condition (actually i think there are at least four) and will offer solid recommendations how to correct it. Sorry Im not your man but Im confident your help is on the way. I've never seen a question on ANY thread posted here go unanswered. Not one.

***. I personally believe Chrysler killed the Jeep but that's another thread.

Thoughts?

92 4.0, same issue here. Some say it's normal others say it should start immediately.
