brokenujoint major old post but just did the trail today. Deer Springs Rd off the 15 fwy in Escondido. Get off the freeway, if your heading South make a right, north left. turn into the road for the AM/PM, pass it up and go to the dead end. Theres a magical slick hill climb. Do it! then turn left and your now on the gypsy trail called Lawrence Welk. Be weary of the composition of the ground. It's slick rock with slippery gravel mostly of granite. Some spots are hard to even walk on. Enjoy.

Back when I was a pup, I went to the desert every weekend, now I race R/C cars off road.
I would love to tag along, on some trail runs..

MouthfulOfGrass Uhhh.....no.
It's code for giving the kids hammers and letting them hit rocks with the hammers. It's amazing, it keeps them occupied for quite a while. They get to break things on purpose and don't get in trouble.

tiny terror Is that code for burying someone in the desert?

MouthfulOfGrass It's about an hour from where I am, but... my family demands my attention and has told me that we are going out to Mojave this weekend. I'll be 'wheeling with my father-in-law, and doing some mining (well, digging around in the dirt and rocks anyways).

tiny terror Nope, it's off the fifteen I'm pretty sure.

Spaz - The exit? Would we all have to drive backwards through it that way?

MouthfulOfGrass Somewhere in the Palm Springs area ? Just going by the name, since they have a Bob Hope drive there in Palm Desert.

Sounds like it could be fun, since Lawerence Welk is so much fun.

iamagolfspaz Hey Terror I know where that exit is.I wonder if they have bubbles coming out of the ground and old farts dancing to welk music. When your ready we will get some folks together and make a day out of exploring there.

Lawrence Welk trail in SoCal.

Anyone know where this trail is? It's between Escondido and Temecula off Lawrence Welk drive, but other than that, I don't know where.
