TJDave Lol. I asked the same question not long ago. If it's not so hot you can't keep your hand on it, it's fine. Things with gears and junk in them get hot. Lower gears generate more heat too. That was from the very experienced builder of my axle.

But definitely check the fluid.

Hot pumpkin!

What's causing my rear pumpkin to get to hot to touch after a small trip? Doesn't get hot when I take out the drive shaft of course, bearings possibly?
