whitebomber Welcome ... drive both and see what you think.

Doubt you will be disappointed with either. We wanted the space and it was replacing out Grand Cherokee. I do think the 4-dr looks pretty cool too! Now I'm looking TJ, to satisfy the 2-dr appetite

05GT-O.C.D. If you get a 4 dr, then just make sure you use it like a Wrangler. Get the top off, wheel it, don't be afraid to take the doors off. Otherwise, just get a Commander (if you can find one) or GC.

Levinoss If you get a 4dr JK you HAVE to make it look like the ones on the cover of the Jeep Essentials mags.

N39-W120 I looked at both and decided on the 4d for the following reasons in order of importance:

1 Only new 2008 Rubicon left on the lot (heavily discounted I might add)
2 More space behind the rear seat for cargo for Redskins tailgating
3 Damn kids still at home

Ironman If I didn't have kids then my '97 would be fine. But since I have two (11 and 13), I'm really wishing I had the four door.

4point Geoff, you really have the right attitude about things.

RatherBNarizona Its all about what you want, everyone has their own preference
Welcome!

Geoff@Bestop Sure why not. Sounds like you're trying to persuade yourself of something. Which for me, usually means I want to spend more money than my wife wants me to spend.

The only real difference is the number of doors.

Both 2 and 4 door have either hard or soft tops. You can have both, and change back and forth.

Safety is really the same.

The extra doors do make it more convenient.

There are people here who will cheerfully argue for days on the small points (longer wheelbase better on hills, shorter better on tight trails, etc.).

But either the 4 door or the 2 door will do fantastic things.

I suggest you buy them both!

Need an opinion on 4dr...

Hey, I was getting a 2dr 4x4, I will go off road minor, no major stuff, but now I think the 4dr 4x4 hardtop would be much better, hardtop better than soft, 4dr better if couple friends come along, the top pops off if you want, safer ovaerall...any opinions on this??? I'm a first time Wrangler buyer! Thanks!!! Ray.
