|JeepnJim||Wow, cripp. Which jeep doors are heavier than the full steel doors in your opinion? My old CJ-5s had full canvas doors and I could just toss those in the back. These full steel doors are like a bag of quick-crete. I must getting old.|

I typically stand mine up on some carpet in the garage. I put a towel between them. I know others have hangers and hang them up. It's cool enough up here even during the summer that those morning drives can be pretty cool.

|cripp||Those doors are the lightest doors ever... IMO|

|JeepnJim||Right on, jpoutlaw. My 14 yo son and I swung them back and forth for quite a while while trying to put monster upward pressure on them and slowly but surely they finally lifted off. Very heavy so be prepared as others have said. I lighty sanded the hinge pins and put a bit of grease on them and now they easily lift right off without even having to swing them. Be sure you have a place to store those heavy beasts and a Harley Davidson mirror will fit in the hinge.|

|jpoutlaw||Let it soak - work the doors, they'll come off. The first time is always a bit tight after that - it's all easy.|

|KBR97||dont apply too much pressure with the jack. You dont wanna bend any hinges. Just give a little pressure at a time.|

|Ej132||yeah i had a friend say they might be the bushings. ill have to try the jack cause i tried wd40 and lifted but the jeep just lifted(not off the ground, not that strong)|

I used a floor jack, a small 2x4 and a towel to for cushion between the door and the wood. I had to do the when I first bought the jeep from P.O.
Never again though, I just spray a squirt of wd40 in there now and then and they come off with ease.
First time I did it with the jack those doors were so tight that I thought the jeep was gonna start lifting off the ground before the doors budged.

|lumpybubblebiscuits||It looks like someone cut the threads off where your bolts would go so i would just go ahead and muscle out the doors. Ive even heard of people using jacks to get the doors off, make sure you put some grease on them so you only have to do it once|

|joemd60||A word to the wise, that is what my doors looked like, the nuts are missing . The doors were a real PITA to get off and when I finally got the doors off I ended up taking one of the bushings inside the hinge with it, so be careful to watch the hinge when the door starts to come loose. My doors are full doors and not real bad but they are a little heavy for the size.|

Looks like it is just gummed up spray some wd-40 on it. And use some elbow grease behind it and should pop off. Swing door back and forth will picking up on the door maybe ask for a hand from a friend. Then put a little grease on it before you put doors back on good luck
Thats what mine look like with the bolt off but i have half doors little less weight first time off is always little tight

|Ej132||Ok thanks, I'll take a look at them|

|Jerry Bransford||I'm not sure what it is that is in your pics, the pics are not clear enough to figure out what's there. All I can say for sure is that the nuts the factory installs that hold the doors on take a 13mm wrench to remove/reinstall.|

|Ej132||so those little circles that look like nuts arent from what surfnaked2010 said?|
|08-09-2009 04:28 PM|
|Jerry Bransford||That nut requires a 13mm wrench.|
|08-09-2009 03:05 PM|
|SurfNaked2010||the nut size is 10mm and it looks like u got all the nuts off. do not under estimate the weight of the doors. there full doors and very heavy just roll ur windows down and use the window frame to lift the doors out of the hinges. dont be afraid to use all ur strength to lift the doors out.|

removing doors, what size is this?
alright i tried removing the doors the other day but got to the little nut on there and couldn't find the right size tool for it. it almost seemed as if the nut was round?
