Water Dog Chances are a shorted wire Between the turn signal switch and the rear lights. Maybe where a harness goes through a body panel or within any after market trailer wiring you might have. The two rear brake lights and rear turn signals use the same wires to the rear. So a short would show in either circuit, depending on which was in use at the time.

Brake light and turn signal issues

I've had to replace the fuses for my brake lights and turn signals several times in the past month and a half. They both go out at the same time and I can't figure out what is causing it. Have tried to look at as much wiring as I can to see if something is causing a short. Have replaced turn signal indicator switch and checked all bulbs and am at a point where I am scratching my head. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
