dab3 I just got back from a 1000 mile trip in my '93 YJ 4.0 auto trans. I was getting about 17-18 MPG on the highway driving ~65 +/- 5 MPH.

morphious 2000 rpms every time and i'm always in the highest gear and i get 18-20 depending if i go wheeling or if i try and keep up with my friends on the highway

Cons_Table I shift at about 2 grand...ive noticed if u follow the dummy shift light on the dash, u tend to have better mileage

Jeepzcb09 I get around 20MPG at what RPM do you shift? I shift at 2250 I know its a little early but it really saves my gas !!!!!and Im always in the highest possable gear to keep my RPMs downs

Cons_Table Filled up last night and pulled 17 outta mine took it easy on the skinny pedal this last tank lol.

scrambler1 Filled it up this morning, 12.2 mpg with wheeling this weekend. I plan on next year after I finish my scrambler going 350 TBI in my wrangler also, should actually get better mileage.
08-27-2009 10:25 PM
porkchop71 my guess is more like nine or ten
08-27-2009 08:23 PM
scrambler1 14 is not that bad. I get around 12 with a 2.5,5 speed,4.10's and 33's. With alot less power.

Dare2BSquare Those mile markers on the highway are a good way to tell how much your speedo is off. Drive about 20 miles and compare your odo to the highway markers. My xj is off by 8% due to larger than stock tires. I take the mileage, multiply by 1.08 and divide by the gallons used.

dooder if your speedometer is off your readings will be off. gps is a good substitute. if you have one that records miles and top speed and all. you start by filling tank to top and reset trip meter on gps. then just go and drive. next fill up fill to top like before and look at the mileage you recorded. Take your trip mileage and divide by gallons needed to refill. that will give you mgp.

TooTallTolar Your math sounds about right ... MPG=miles per tank/gallons to fill up ... i've got a 04 tj 4.0 5speed and I average about 14.5 to 18 mpg.

Real Mileage

I have a 94 YJ 4.0L 5 speed with 31x10.5x15. I would like to find out my MPG. I got 213 miles on what I think is a full tank. (my gauge is messed up, said it was on empty but would only take 11gal) I know my speed is off so I'm guessing that my mileage would be off too. (I hope its becouse 14.2 MPG would suck) Can someone tell me the math or about what my mileage would be?

Thanks, Chris.
