I was able to do a few other practice runs this morning in my parking lot and I was able to figure out the 4L sweet spot.

|Tweak||Word of warning, don't ever ever ever try to muscle it. Things will break. You have to remember its like shifting a manual tranny with no clutch and no synchros. It will take a bit of pressure but if its not going with a reasonable amount of force just roll a bit and try again. I just roll in 2h, then put tranny in neutral, apply brakes, and ease it back. A little occasional grinding never hurt anybody.|

The other weird thing I noticed while in 4L is that as I tried to give it some gas on first gear, the Jeep would hardly move or advance. Is it because I was on pavement and 4L? I then shifted to second gear and the same thing. I would give it plenty of gas and the Jeep would hardly move forward. What is going on here? I was expecting to feel some sort of claw-by-claw movement.

BigSkyJeep's answer is what works for mine... 2-3 MPH is WAY too fast and 1 MPH or slower is just right! As far as being stuck in neutral, applying light to moderate pressure on the transfer case select lever, and very slowly releasing the clutch will do the job, but go easy... you will usually get plenty of gear clash this way unless you really let the clutch out slowly as it only takes a slight amount of internal movement to get the gears to mesh.
It gets easier over time too. We hit the trail at least once a week around here if not more often. With 16K on our '13 JKUR, getting into and out of 4low is either easier, or I've gotten better at it.

I saw that you posted in the thread I started a couple of days ago complaining about the same thing. Here is what seems to work for me after much grinding and ungodly noises from the transfer case. I find that rolling 1mph, or about as fast as you could push the Jeep if you had to, works best. Just as I am about to come to a complete stop I firmly pull the lever to 4low. Seems to work ok doing it this way. I was reading on another forum that the owner's manual is generic to all Wranglers, and the 2-3mph recommendation is fine for the normal transfer case, but not the Rubi's 4:1 case. 2-3mph is too fast apparently for our transfer case.
I too found myself stuck with the transfer case in neutral and unable to roll forward or back. On another forum someone recommended doing this if that happens again: apply firm pressure to the shift lever towards 4low, SLOWLY let up on the clutch, as the gears align the pressure will allow the shift to happen. Have not tried it yet, but others swear that this works every time.

2013 JKR Transfer Case
So after reading other posts about having trouble shifting into 4H and 4L, I decided to take a few practice runs. My JKR is a 6 speed and it has 8,000 miles. I shift perfectly to 4H without any grinding whatsoever. However when attempting to shift into 4L, it was a different story. There is grinding going on as I shift into 4L but no grinding when coming out of it.
I tried many different things while attempting to shift into 4L. I rolled very slow, I clutched in, had it in gear and no gear and clutch in the whole time and the grinding it is still there!!!!!!! WTF what am I doing wrong here?
It got to a point where while trying to shift into 4L, the transfer case became "locked". It wouldn't let me shift in or out of it. The transfer case sounded like it didn't want me to even put it into neutral. I shut off the Jeep and tried to muscle the shifter into anything but no success and after about 7 long minutes of trying to get my Jeep to get into gear, it somehow got into 4H and I was able to move for a bit. It kinda felt as though the transfer case got jammed, like when a bullet gets jammed in the chamber.
I really PULLED and PUSHED on the shifter really HARD because I was really upset of what was happening to my new JK. Should I take my JK to the dealer and have them inspect it?
