Madmardigan I installed a new bumper the other day. Was a piece of cake, it took roughly 30min to do the install.
Today I finally got a chance to wire in the Piaa's (well, sort of). I got most of the way done. I keep all my tools at work, and I just grabbed what I thought I needed to do the job. But part way through I decided I wasn't going to use the Piaa switch, and just use the factory fog light signal for the trigger. So hopefully tomorrow evening I'll get a opertunity to finish.

I still need to buy a winch, but one thing at a time. I did score a tiny led light bar from work that was for display. I figured I'd put it in the bumper for now until I get a winch. It's only 3 LED's but its stupid bright. Eventually I'll be mounting it on my rear bumper.

My install was crazy easy and have had no problems with it.

JohnnyWest Didn't get much done today. Finished the spare tire mount install and put on the spare.

FlyingForMe Several things this weekend.

Installed Gutter Mesh in the grill, Truck Bed Liner-ed the inserts first.

Painted the muffler and exhaust tip black.
this was stupid easy, took 20 minutes. Wiped the muffler down with de-greaser and then paint thinner, then painted it with engine paint.

And my favorite.

Installed buttons for my garage door opener in the windshield horizontal trim piece.
I used a multi-meter to figure out which points on the circuit board were the contacts for the buttons on my opener and wired those to the 2 switches for my 2 garage doors.
I hardwired the opener's batter circuit to the cigarette lighter circuit using a 5V - voltage reducer from Radio Shack since the opener used 2 3 Volt batters = 6 volts, (better under powered than over powered, and radio shack didn't have anything in between 5 and 12v).
Also since this is on my radio circuit, if i have the top off and its in the driveway no one can get in to my garage without the key being turned on.
*hard to tell from the angle of the picture but the buttons line up with the jeep grille logo on the windshield.

I got it from OR-FAB. For the front bumper I went with Rugged Ridge. Very happy so far.

spudley After my previously posted fail on a more dead pedal and a stuck rotopax lock, I decided to clean up some wiring and made a new wiring harness for the lights on the roof rack.

Too dark to install now, so that'll have to wait.
While doing the wiring, I decided to create a simple 'how to' on soldering for your Jeep (or any vehicle).

starting from the top right:
1) these wire splicers work (sometimes) but only for temporary connections as they can come loose, and moisture can be an issue too - try to avoid using these
2) always use stranded copper wire - never solid core
3) create a good western union type splice
4) make certain your heat shrink is on the cable before soldering;
5) heat rises - soldering iron goes on the bottom of your splice, and solder flows from the top when it's hot enough - never 'brush' the solder onto the splice - that ends up in a "cold solder" joint and can break apart on you.
6) use heat shrink lined with adhesive - it helps keep out the moisture!

If you're tapping into an existing 12V source, or the battery - make certain to also place a fuse near your tie-in point, or at the battery if that's where it is!

After that, enjoy a problem free electrical connection!

For those interested, the relay bank is to allow me more control over my lights - I have "three sets" that are forward facing, and light on each side of the Jeep and rear for "camping/area lights". The relay bank gives me full control and access to a panic switch that also overrides all and puts all lights on if I need to (I've also run wiring to my roof top tent for a 'remote' panic switch).

Magnetic. Not sure of the brand. It was actually designed to lean shotguns against in a duck blind. Holds the pistol really well.

Any way you can take a picture of the packaging? Went to 3xWalmarts today, no sign of Jeep tailored interior LED lights. Could just be the area I am in.

JCDriller Washed, clay bar'd and waxed the Jeep. Also, had some tools delivered for my up in coming lift/axle install.

It appears the automatic transmissions have a breather at the bottom of the dipstick tube.

That's really awesome! I have a trunk from when my family came in through Ellis Island, but I think it would take up too much space.
