mnstrbetle Very cool! Those are the things I wanted to hear, now I won't be so worried about tearing the rear bumper off or anything like that. I'm ordering right now. Thanks!!

PT4WDL I have the Warn rock Crawler bumper and it has a integrated 2" hitch. I use it primarily for a recovery/tow point. I have used a 4" recovery strap and tied my jeep to a tree. Then pulled a GMC 2500 out of the deep mud 100' with my winch. No problems here. The bumper is 3/16 thick.

jwm1986 I would think any bumper that thick would be able to handle some weight.... As much as you could tow anyway with a Wrangler...

Schmo The TJ is rated to tow something like 2000 pounds so it's not like your really towing!

mnstrbetle That's sort of what I'm lookin for. On the one I've been lookin at the reciever is also built into the bumper rather than welded on the bottom and it's also got a large 1/4 inch gusset on the bottom of that. I think I'm just going to go ahead and get it. I just wanted to feel a little more comfortable with getting a bumper that said 'not rated for towing'.

Jerry Bransford The lawyers made most manufacturers too nervous to allow them to say they're rated for towing any more, even the exact same bumpers that used to be rated for towing no longer say that.

I have an Olympic 58" Rock Bumper on the back of my TJ that I tow all kinds of trailers with and it works great. The 2" receiver hitch is integrated into the bumper, not welded on below, so the hitch won't drag on offroad terrain. Quadratec sells it the one I have, you can see it kinda-sorta on my website in a few photos.

Schmo I've got the RockHard rear bumper/tire carrier and it comes with a tow rated receiver. Great product . . . very sturdy, no rattles, but it's not cheap!

Rear Bumpers with 2 inch reciever

I'm lookin to buy a rear bumper that has a 2 inch reciever built into it. It's made of 1/4 inch steel and mounts with all the factory holes, so there are no modifications needed.
My question is this: Every bumper I find says not suitable for towing. All I wanna do is pull a 4x8 utility traler with a lawn tractor on it. My Jeep is lifted 4 inches with 33 inch tires on it so Ide probly need a drop hitch. Would I be able to pull this load safely? And without damaging my Jeeps chassis?
I know a guy that has an older wrangler and all he has is this crappy little bolt on reciever and it isn't even two inches and he pulls his 4x6 trailer and lawn tractor all over the place.
Thanks for the advice.
