Almost everybody I know with a JK has replaced the rears first.
BLD's, anti-roll, stability control, etc. all use the brakes to work. And the rear pads are much thinner to start with.

2008 Wrangler X Brake Wear
I have a 2008 Wrangler X (RHD) that's used for mail delivery. It's been 1 year
almost to the day, and brakes HAD to be done. 12500 on the Odometer.
This Jeep is ALWAYS braking, so limited life on the pads wasn't surprising.
What IS kinda weird to me is the fact that the REAR pads were about a
1/32 of an inch from the studs (close call), and the fronts had almost 3/8
of an inch left on them. Is it normal for a Jeep Wrangler to wear the rears out so quick?
(Other vehicles I've had ALWAYS wore the fronts faster than the rear.)
This being my first Jeep, it's all a learning experience.
