jpdocdave yep, i keep the rpm's up in 4L, in 4 hi you'll bog down and lose power and end up stuck. in a really deep spot you can get a more running start and hit it in 2nd gear. but 4 low for sure.

CJL Something like this

My 31's are pretty much gone if you hit a deep part. Its a swamp. But I should be in 4L not 4H? Whats the general rule as of 4L or H? And then keep RPM's around 2k?

jpdocdave it really depends on what mud you're in. most of my time is spent in 1st gear and 4 low.

Hi all, I have a 94 YJ 4L 5 speed and I would like to know what gear should my Tcase be in and what gear should I be in while mudd'n. I was told by someone that I should be in 4H in 1st or 2nd and then someone else told me 4L in 2nd or 3rd.Which one is it? and can someone explain this to me or point me in the right direction to a different thread.
And can someone point me in the right direction for understanding the different gear ratios in the Tcase/diff.
