Another blower problem, but still need help

So my fan quit a while ago, but I have just now got to trying to fix it. I have read all the posts. The fan works when I removed it and hooked it straight to the battery and I have power at the fan. I took the switches out and the selector switch on the right with all the vacuum hoses connected, has a three prong electircal connection on the right side. The middle prong has melting at the base. Would this cause the problem? If I buy a new switch, will it fix my problem? How do I prevent this problem in the future? Any help would be great. Thanks
