Big Shot I just tossed around a 2010 or 2009 but decided the LTPT was worth it hands down. So I pulled the trigger 2009 Unlimited Rubicon pick it up on saturday

I think I will look around for a Rubi. Funny thing is , they have a White hardtop rubi, Used thou.

This would be my first choice in colors. Dosnt have the Nav.

Also,, the Rubicon has a limited slipp in the rear? So in two wheel drive you can kick the back out some on slick roads? I dont think I will ask if it can leave two black marks ....

Yah, once you pull the trigger on a new jeep, it will be really difficult if you did it on the wrong one to undo it. There are few choices in that situation. Modify your way to a more likeable jeep or sell it and get the one you really want. Both are very difficult situations because the average person, once in a vehicle, usually will be financially locked in without much wiggle room until the loan is almost paid off or after it is paid off. Then there is the warranty worry on modifications.

Say what you want but if chrysler says no warranty on that modified drive train, you will then have to come up with the money, and hire a lawyer to go after them or report them to the attorney general in your state and wait for the consumer protection laws to slowly grind your way to bending chrysler back to your way of thinking. Once the jeep is paid off, there is a lot more financial wiggle room to take care of major damage caused by getting crazy with modifications. I almost can't wait until mine is paid off for that very reason. No payments = more mods sooner. And less worry.

Try to get the rubi you want. Have the dealer search for you. My rubi came from 200 miles away and I got what I wanted. I didn't care about the sound system upgrade but now that I have it.....oooooh....the sound is pretty good for a factory installed system. I like all of the features of it including the built in nav. No worries about leaving an expensive one on the dash and getting broken into because someone needs it more than me. My big requirements were trailer hitch, standard transmission and red rock color.

Regarding the limited slip rear (and ESP) systems, I live in Massachusetts. When the snow flies here, it sure is a lot of fun going around corners in 4wheel, snow flying off of all four, jeep sliding sideways and straightening out right where you steer it back...wOOt. Can you tell that I'm in my second childhood? I thank my wife often. In almost thirty years of driving, I have never been this giddy about owning a vehicle. The jeep is awesome. I can't wait to get to my next challenge with it. In my opinion, this jeep is the most capable in the jeep lineup just as it was delivered. They are all good but this one is great (and a price to match). If you get one, test it often. Have a blast with it. Mine is a great source of fun, hope the one you choose will be the same for you. Good luck in your choosing.

Best wishes...show pictures after the purchase.

daggo66 What do you mean they are waiting for a "buyout" on your car? Are you talking about the buyout on the financing? That's as simple as a phone call. You can do that.

silvrevo Doc,, I thought that was the Buddy Whackit part,,, thanks goodness it wasnt. big tommyboy fan.

And JKn,, I think we are on the same thought. Almost to a T. I think its good to spend once. I will keep this baby stock. As my past rides got pretty expensive. Use to have a well sorted Evo8,, and then this 335i.

SO they are still waiting for buyouts on my car. Im pretty sure they will be a was off thou. Getting into a new JK with the idea of having payments of about half are kinda out the door. But really if you get what you want the first time. Money isnt missed like you said.

I think I will look around for a Rubi. Funny thing is , they have a White hardtop rubi, Used thou.

This would be my first choice in colors. Dosnt have the Nav.

So time is on my side kinda. My buyout will get much cheaper each month. And they cant move these 2009's with 2010 showing up. Needless to say , they havnt moved since they are still on the lots.

But this is kinda shot if 2009 Rubi 2 doors are hard to find.

Also,, the Rubicon has a limited slipp in the rear? So in two wheel drive you can kick the back out some on slick roads? I dont think I will ask if it can leave two black marks ....

Thanks ,,,

I'll change that Avitar soon. I do hate annoying ones.

jk'n I've had my Rubi for just over a year now and 18K miles. I had a Sahara Unlimited before that for 9 months and 14K miles. Up to last Sunday, I have been only tooling around off road, nothing serious. Then I went wheeling with a jeep owner's club on their fall crawl and spent 6 hours in 4 low in many many tough spots. I got into a spot at least three times where my wheels were spinning and couldn't move forward. Pushed the lockers on and a small amount of bump and grind and I was back on full power with four wheels and right back off of the lockers to limited slip. I would say, knowing that and knowing that I will be doing this more than once, I'm happy with this feature. I'm planning on owning this jeep for many years to come. Once I am a full member of the jeep owner's club I will be joining them on many more outings. wOOt. I didn't know and had no clue that I would do this when I had the Sahara Unlimited. Now that I have the Rubicon Unlimited, I know that things are all right in the world. No regrets. Don't miss the money I had to pay on the differential between the two models. I made the right choice for me. Can't wait to get out in the middle of nowhere again. I'd say you really have to consider how important it is to you to be able to bump and grind your way up the trail rather than back out because you don't think the vehicle is capable. Of course, you could start conservative and work your way up by building it yourself with aftermarket parts. But you said you weren't interested in that path. Choices...choices...so many choices...and they all cost money the more capability that you want.

daggo66 I just checked the dealership where I bought mine. They have 8 2009's and 5 2010's in stock.

daggo66 The LTPTW was a comforting factor for me since I plan on keeping my Jeep a long time. There's not much difference between a '10 and a '09. Unless you are going to keep it less than 5 years I would look to get the LTPTW. If you don't plan on off-roading much, The Rubicon is overkill. That doesn't mean it's not nice to have and doesn't look good. The X with LSD is more than capable off-road. The BFG tires are a nice bonus that wasn't around when I got my X in May. Of course I actually prefer the SRA's since it is my daily driver and has only been on the trails twice so far. It's a 2 hour drive just to get there for me. The SRA's performed much better than I expected off -road.

silvrevo O great,,, love the dealers.

She mispoke,,, its for the 2010,, buyers can take the lifetime by the 18th.

All 2009 have the lifetime no matter when you buy it.

Also she mispoke, saying she had buy numbers for my car,,,,, sales manager said non yet.

well anyways, wanted to clear that up.. but still would love feedback from both x and Rubi owners.

Thanks.

HELP! Lifetime ends 18th,,Questions Rubi?

Hi,
Just found out lifetime warrenty ends the 18th of sept. I might have to move on one soon.

Those with a regular JK , how well do you do off road? I dont do much at all.
The one Im looking at has a rear limited slipp true loc. as an extra add on.

Also I think I might want to just go and get a Rubicon, having both front and rear lockers. But the price of the one Im looking at and a Rubi is about $6k.

The X is auto soft top, with the rear limited slipp diff. $27k,,, i can get for $23k. Also has power pack, and the Rubi wheels and tires.

A Rubi is going to be around $29k.

Now those of you that have an X,, what was your reasons for not going with a Rubi.

Also what are the two like in 4 High? Also 2 High regular driving. Does the Rubi have a lsd out back? I like to spinn a few cookies in the snow!

I just want to keep it stock and have the liftetime powertrain warrenty. I dont want to have to think about adding lockers. But would like to be able to do some nice off roading.

So how do you guys with the X and maybe the rear limited slipp get around off road.

Thanks

I need some feedback asap,, might have to move on one by the 17th.
