Negative, the stipulations are the engine has to be of the same model year or newer and requires for the engine to be running as it came from the factory, with all factory emissions equipment in place.

nicholaspatchen Not true there is a guy here in Cali named Todd Custer, he does V8 swaps all the time, featured in JP magazine. Said hed do mine, I was trying to get an idea of more shops in the area that do it. Btw, Cali only requires that the engine has to be from the same year or newer, and they usually want the same transmission from the engine in order to pass smog... but thanks for the advice

Xpress Basically you need for the engine to be assembled as it came from the factory, and running with the factory installed emissions components, ontop of the appropriate computer.

The swap will be the easy part. Getting a Ca. Smog Referee to approve it may be the hang up.

YJ V8 engine swap needed by January

Im trying to find someone here in Northern California that will do a smogged V8 engine swap somewhere by San Francisco, looking to spend around 15k..does anyone know of a place that will do the engine, trans, drivetrain and rear axle for this?
